What have you been watching/reading this week? (Anime/Manga)

Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its Anilist, MAL, or any other anime/manga database you use!

I am a huge fan of One Punch Man the anime so I've recently been getting into the manga partially because I really don't want to wait for the anime to. I've never really read manga though, and shit is expensive and there's so much of it. Only like 4 books in so still a good ways away from where the anime is and It'll probably take me a long way to catch up to the anime let alone surpass it.

I was actually surprised how readily available it is here in Canada. I thought it would still be kind of taboo, but turns out any large book store here will have a whole manga section including one punch man. So I'm looking to get more into reading manga on top of watching Anime, any suggestions?

Anime and Manga/Light Novels are such broad media categories with so many genres/sub-genres and so much content available out there that it's kind of hard to make recommendations without knowing your particular tastes.

However, if you enjoyed One Punch Man then you might also like Mob Psycho (anime+manga, from the same creator as OPM) and My Hero Academia (anime+manga, often mentioned in the same breath as OPM). And while not related in any way, Attack on Titan (anime+manga) is also relatively new, super popular and pretty good (the manga especially, though similar to OPM the anime is progressing slow as hell and the manga is lightyears ahead). Those are probably the easiest/safest recommendations to make with only knowing you are new to anime/manga and enjoyed OPM.

As for some other popular anime worth watching and/or manga worth reading that you might also like, there is ton of that available as well... from Naruto/Naruto:Shippuden, Fullmetal Alchemist/FMA:Brotherhood, Sword Art Online, Death Note, Psycho-Pass to the older stuff like Ninja Scroll, Akira, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, Appleseed, Bastard!!, Fist of the North Star, to even the huge multi-media franchises like Macross, Gundam, etc.

My personal favorites of all time are Ghost in the Shell (in all its various incarnations other than the new Arise series), Ergo Proxy, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop and every single Studio Ghibli film (although beware Grave of the Fireflies, it's wonderful but a totally emotionally devastating movie unlike all the other Ghibli films which are whimsical).

If you let us know specifically what you're in to (e.g. fantasy, scifi, superheros, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk, highschool dramas, race car driving, etc) and what you're looking for (e.g. movies, anime/manga crossover series, new series, ongoing series, completed series, etc), then I, and probably many others here, can make some more personalized recommendation rather than just dropping a ton of stuff in your lap (like I just did), much of which you might not enjoy. ;)

Ah yeah totally fair. I didn't really give much info about my tastes or anything but you did a pretty good job. Yeah, I mostly like action/comedy/mystery, fantasy/scifi/superhero stuff is a good bet for me too. Not really into the whole romantic or romcom genre at all. I've had Mob Psycho and MHA on my list for a while now but haven't started them. I love AoT as well, anything that has good action as well as a compelling plot I probably will like. Used to love Noragami as well but they unfortunately took it off netflix a few years back and I'm not caught up with the second season cause I don't have crunchyroll or anything.

Other than that, not a big fan of Naruto, seen FMA, didn't like Sword Art, Death Note was fantastic, and I've kinda heard the names of the rest of your suggestions but don't know much about them and haven't seen them.

Getting close to the end of Darling in the Franxx. Show should've been 12 episodes instead of 24. The last 6 or so episodes are alright, with stuff finally happening.
