I am finally catching up on the Dr. Stone manga. I took a break after the first arc ended, and this new arc is just as good. The characters are so entertaining, and the new discoveries are always exciting. So far, I have not seen a new villain (I'm still on chapter 90), but the arc's focus on survival and exploration still keeps me coming back.

I've been falling behind on Dr. Stone as well, looks like I left off at 89. I really enjoy the energy of the whole thing, even if the whole "science solves all!" thing is a little...well, clearly shounen, and it's a bit clumsy when it tries to get political. I just dig the concept and the characters are so full of life, especially old craftsman bro.

Really looking forward to the anime adaptation, they have a chance to smooth out some of the awkward over-explanations and such where it feels like they're forcing in educational value for the kids.

The education bits can be boring sometimes, but I enjoy it a little since I don't really know. It might also be due to the fact that I never expected any of these things to be possible in the era...

The characters really are the driving force behind the manga, Senku especially.

It was one of the more emotionally difficult Animes to watch for me, because people die like flies in horrible ways (every single episode), leaving the remaining ones to grieve and -- not that much else happens. There are some brilliant moments, but after a while I just felt numb and depressed. Maybe the show wanted exactly that, I don't know.

It is over-the-top done right. Everything in this show is just so dramatic in presentation, but it didn't annoy me. I found the characters super interesting (for the most part... If Nina wasn't a part of it, that would be fine by me).

The plot does come a mile a minute, but I didn't mind. Political intrigue everywhere, magic powers and technology, and it didn't let up on the WTF moments.

The giant robots didn't hurt either.

Haven't really watched, or even read much of anything recently. Been meaning to get serious in watching Cowboy Bebop, but for some reason the show just isn't something that makes me want to keep watching it episode after episode. Instead I find myself watched an episode a week or so if I feel like it.

Most of the recent watching from me has just been catching up and finishing the various Spring Seasonals. And of them all, I didn't love many of them. My standouts have been Kenja no Mago and Ao-chan Can't Study!. Everything else has just been kinda disappointing and just something I was watching to fill the time.

Did just get caught up with Demon Slayer, and man do I hate Zenitsu so much. He is such an annoying character for me, and I hope he improves soon.

Finished up Dororo and that was a thing. It didn't feel that satisfying. Maybe I'm just used to anime blowing up the world or I'm caught up in the discourse on the masculine presenting Dororo is unambiguously feminine in the future, but the show kinda punted on having anything to say more involved than "Don't sell your kids to demons." Got Hulu for the summer, and I kinda want to finish up what's available on Black Clover's dub, because I want to watch some trash.

I finished Dorohedoro manga today. It has to be one of the darkest, visceral series with dashes of comedy that I have ever read. World building is really good imo and every character is fleshed out. Q Hayashida's art has to be one of the most unique ones out there and I feel there is indeed some influence in her style by Tsutomu Nihei (since she worked as his assistant for a while).

An anime adaptation was announced last year and I believe animating this one is gonna be really challenging. I just hope it doesn't end up as CGI fuckfest.
