What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)
What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!
My girlfriend introduced Naruto into our house and while it's excruciatingly slow pace and infinite amount of episodes makes it impossible to watch in earnest, I'm catching an episode here and there when it's running in the background. It's kinda fun. Also stupid.
I also heard the Attack on Titan dub started airing last Saturday. Maybe I'll wait for the full season to be out, though.
If you aren't already, I'd recommend watching Naruto Kai instead (maybe someone will disagree). It's a fan edit that cuts out most of the filler (recaps at the beginning of each episode, the ridiculous amount of flashbacks, anything that isn't part of the manga, etc) and groups each episode by manga arc (I think?) such that each episode is about ~1.5 hours long. Other than some awkward cuts, it makes the pacing much better. That said, there are a few enjoyable filler episodes that get cut, but I think it's generally easier to seek those out than suffer through recaps.
Been making my way through Fairy Tail. Just wrapped up the Grand Magic Games arc. It’s an enjoyable, if simple, anime and most of the side characters get enough screen time that the show doesn’t feel like it’s completely focused on the main 5-6 characters
My best friend started me on the first few episodes of My Hero Academia. It was pretty good. I’ll probably wait until I finish Fairy Tail before I really dive into it though
I never figured out the ア either. My best guess is that it's supposed to be "aa" as in "Ah" or "Oh"; the onomatopoeia of being alerted to something. My second best guess is that it's some strange aesthetic choice that you just have to roll with.
Honestly, some of the choice of imagery used in this show come across as arbitrary, but it's more important to understand what they signify instead of why.
Are or will you also be watching the sequel/second season of Cells at Work!, Cells at Work!! that is also airing this season?
I keep on planning to watch a bunch of things (like Cells at Work S2 and CODE BLACK), but I don't really get around to it consistently. I also sort of feel like I don't really want to share the things I do watch, but that's mostly due to my aversion toward sharing about myself in general.
I know quite a few very active users on here who are just as into anime as I am, but similar to myself rarely comment in these topics. And I suspect that, just like the lack of activity often seen in ~tv despite pretty much everyone on Tildes presumably watching TV, it's because there often isn't much to say about certain shows. E.g. I still watch a fair amount of anime, but most times all I really can think of to say about them would be "it was good" or "it's okay" or "it wasn't my cup of tea", which isn't really worthy of a comment in these topics.
