from your list, I have only read The Mercy of Gods (my very short review is here), and rated it rather poorly unfortunately, but I'm still excited for the rest of the series

And reading is also my main hobby, plus I generally do something at the same time, usually reading+jigsaw puzzles. Recently also reading+chainmaille but I super fucked up my shoulders from this SOOO I'm thinking to stick to reading+jigsaw puzzles mostly. Before audiobooks I was reading like half this many books in a year.

I can't even comprehend how anyone could pick up anything in that speed let alone process it. That has to have some impact in the experience and retainment.

It's really just practice, I've been listening to a ton of audiobooks for about two years now and I slowly worked up the speed (and I'm still going faster as I can). I think if anything, I retain better now than I used to? But I'm not sure, it's hard to compare. /u/thecakeisalime is exactly right, you get to a point where you can't tell it's sped up and listening significantly slower sounds weird and wrong and bad haha

My default is 2x for audiobooks and podcasts, but some audiobooks I've pushed all the way to 3x. After a few minutes, I don't even notice it's sped up.

bonus points to anyone who can tell me why that favicon is showing up because I do not think I ever configured that as my favicon, it's supposed to be a little blue circle surrounding a black dot

Did you ever use the blue J image anywhere else on your site? It's possible Embedly (which is what Tildes uses behind the scenes to figure out the icons) grabbed that image when it couldn't find a favicon for some reason and it has been saved like that on Tildes ever since.

Edit: Ah, it likely came from this topic and the way Tildes saves icons I believe doesn't take subdomains into account.

Thanks for sharing this! A number of books made it onto my to-read list. I’m not so much into fantasy, but sci-fi is my jam, and queer sci-fi doubly so. In particular, I appreciate the blurb for Bluebird getting right to the point and giving the people what they want:

Lesbian gunslinger fights spies in space!
