James Patterson is a ridiculously prolific author. My father is obsessed with the Alex Cross series and the damn thing is 24 books already, with a bunch more planned. I tried getting into it once but mystery thrillers are not really my thing (<3 scifi & fantasy), but kudos to Mr. Patterson for doing this... although it does also make me kind of sad that it's even necessary. :(

Do you happen to have a credible citation for that? The only source I can see for that accusation is The Telegraph... and they are a somewhat questionable one with a history of "misreporting" facts.

I'd also wager these authors do better selling underneath Patterson than they would on their own, as he is quite the phenomenon (the linked series is huge with kids right now). I don't think it's underhanded so much as it is a different paradigm than traditional authorship.

Ah, okay... I clearly misunderstood. The WSJ article is behind a paywall so I was only able to read the first part that mentions him providing overviews and having other authors write the material. So I assumed he did that with all his books, not just the ones he has listed himself as a co-author on. I suppose as long as he credits the "real" authors it's fine. Thanks again.
