I forgot to share this here earlier.. :D It's a writeup about what I did for Plasma 6 in general. Written in semi-tired state but maybe you find it interesting.

Thanks for sharing! I switched to Plasma from Gnome in January with a new computer build and have been really enjoying it! I knew nothing about plasma development before this, but I had a quick scroll through https://invent.kde.org/plasma/breeze/-/merge_requests?scope=all&state=merged for fun. Working on 100 merge requests since starting in November is crazy! Some are just changing border width or small things like that, but you still need to hunt down and find the issue in the first place.
I also looked through a few of your recommended podcasts and will be listening to some Contributor and Coding Blocks. We both listen to CoRecursive and that is currently my favourite software dev podcast!
Great writeup; I wish I had the time and energy to contribute to FOSS like I used to years ago. I've been a Linux user since the original RedHat 3/4 and FreeBSD 3/4 days. I switched back to KDE...
Great writeup; I wish I had the time and energy to contribute to FOSS like I used to years ago. I've been a Linux user since the original RedHat 3/4 and FreeBSD 3/4 days. I switched back to KDE early last year after a few years on cinnamon/mate, alternating between tiling window managers (AwesomeWM), depending on my mood for the week. KDE has come a long way since the KDE4 fiasco, and I'm enjoying it for the first time since KDE3. I may try Cosmic DE once it gets out of alpha, but for the most part, I'm past the tinkering phase in my life and am very happy with my setup.
I currently run Debian Sid on all my machines in the house, and except for my Macbook Air M1 and my kid's gaming laptop, my house has been Linux only for over a decade.
In my opinion, every single bug report is a contribution. So do not hesitate to report bugs, it's what keeps us on our toes! Especially crash reports with proper backtrace is gold! Dev systems can...

In my opinion, every single bug report is a contribution. So do not hesitate to report bugs, it's what keeps us on our toes! Especially crash reports with proper backtrace is gold! Dev systems can often be very "default" so we don't change that many things and something will get past us.
I am also interested in the Cosmic DE, will definitely give it a try. IMO Linux desktops don't (nor shouldn't) compete, it's more a friendly rivalry where we just try to one up each other and have a laugh about it later. :D
Wow! I've met (at least here in virtual space) living being that makes open source software great! Thanks for you work, even though you may not see it, it is appreciated! I can't contribute...

I can't contribute anything as my programming kinda sucks... I would make more damage even if I understood the code that is already written (which I don't, too high level for me). I don't even use DEs like Plasma or Gnome anymore, since I had really crappy PC at one point in time and I switched to MATE back then to save on system resources and I still use it up to this day.
Well, actually, doesn't Steam Deck use Plasma? Then I use Plasma! Doible thanks to you for your work!
Thank you for the nice comment. <3 Don't be afraid to share praise to FOSS devs, unfortunately most things we hear is when things are not working. ;P Funny how few nice words can go a long way!...

Also like I said in other comment, I think even bug reports are contributions, so don't be afraid to make bug reports. :) They're really helpful!
Funny how you mention that most thing you hear are negative considering there is another thread right now where people discuss this. I also believe that bug reports are contributions (to some...
I also believe that bug reports are contributions (to some extent), but I thought really contributing by solving aome of them or working in new functions. I can do some coding, but slaghetti is the last thing you want contributed :-) And before you say otherwise, believe me - you don't want MY spaghetti code.
I guess since we've got a KDE dev in the house: You guys kicked ass on this. I was using Neon with every intent of settling on it, got the Plasma 6 update and it was pretty solid. For non-KDE...

You guys kicked ass on this. I was using Neon with every intent of settling on it, got the Plasma 6 update and it was pretty solid. For non-KDE reasons I switched to Bazzite and Bluefin, but can't wait to get Plasma 6 on my stuff again their Fedora 40 images hit release.
The new Breeze tweaks were kinda nice. I didn't remember any details about what was different, at least before I checked your link in the post, but I distinctly remember going "Hm... this feels nice." I was being kinda nitpicky just to try to find differences, and it just looked more polished. There was nothing wrong with 5's Breeze theme, but it still looked/felt better somehow. It's really subtle and I couldn't tell you what is different from memory but I liked it.
Thanks! The most changes to Breeze theme have been consistency fixes between QtWidgets and QtQuick apps. They now have more shared values, so they look more coherent together.
Thanks!

CoRecursive is amazing. My podcast list is a bit out of date, but it's close. :)
Thanks for the nice comment! <3
