How do you feel about the fact that these bots ignore robots.txt? Even if it's "weird" if someone says that these pages are off-limits since it's on the internet, the fact that so many people set up their bots to ignore website owners requests is the unethical breaking point for me.

Thanks for bringing this up and yes kudos for the authors doing a follow up study highlighting the issues!.

I do agree with your points about AI actually increasing productivity and being a messy situation.

One thing I want to add is to consider the implications of long term use of AI. I have found that there are many people who will accept a lower level of quality when working with agents, only considering whether the happy path and maybe a few edge cases of the feature they were implementing works.

In that sense, yes you will be much more productive and fly through tickets. However I have found that it takes a lot of effort to truly understand every line of code an AI agent writes. For me reading code (to a high level of understanding) is harder than writing it. When I'm working on something I experiment with a lot of alternatives, write tests, read documentation, and if I'm stuck my brain chews on it while I'm not working until something clicks. This is where learning and understanding happens.

Without this process, I feel it is easier to let technical debt build up, miss edge cases, and most importantly not improve your developer skill set as much. This is most prominent in junior developers. When I started my first job It it was around 6 weeks before I actually shipped something, but now juniors can get something that looks correct in a few minutes or hours. Why would they or the company be willing to spend such a long time on something now that AI can do it so much faster?

If you do all of your due diligence with AI, spend time thinking through the problem and writing a prompt that takes everything into account, and don't ship any code that you don't fully understand, is it faster than if you wrote it yourself?

AI does increase productivity, but at the cost of understanding and growth.

Thank you for all this data! We did end up agreeing on some things, and one of the things we discussed was that they were frustrated about news articles on the left/right contradicting each other with headlines.

I pushed them more to see if the sources they were looking at had any data to back up their claims, and shared with them https://tracreports.org/about/ on the site I originally used to show that they get their information from the Government through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), but that it is difficult and they have a team of lawyers to ensure they get access to it.

Because comprehensive and relevant records about what an agency is doing — and not doing — are essential to meaningful oversight, TRAC continuously uses the law to obtain new data about government enforcement and regulatory activities. Some agencies are remarkably open. Other agencies are not. In some circumstances TRAC has to file suit in federal court to force the release of vital data. Persistence across even decades is sometimes required. Critical to TRAC's use of FOIA is a small army of lawyers who donate their time and energy to represent us in court. See http://tracreports.org/foia to read more about these efforts.

I'll likely share them this article in the near future, I only had a couple hours with them after making this post.

We did make some concessions as I only had like 2 hours with them after making this post here, and I'm currently debating whether to continue the conversation online with sending them links like this or to leave it. I'm leaning towards continuing the conversation and this will be a good article to discuss.

You make great points! Thank you.

We did end up having a good discussion about this and came to a few concessions in the limited time I had with them.

    1. Deporting a large number of people with criminal records reducing the amount of crime in the country is arguably a good thing. However there should be more due process / investigation to avoid deporting people with no criminal records.
    2. Immigrating illegally and then working, paying taxes, and starting a family doesn't mean that you deserve to have your life upended and be deported because of not following proper immigration rules. Instead we should be fast tracking these people to become legal.
    3. ICE having deportation quotas shows that they aren't just looking for illegals, but are pressured to deport anyone and meet their quotas so that they can keep their job / get promoted (we didn't look up the internal incentive structure)

One frustrating thing is that I keep bringing up sone things and they do say "Yeah I agree trump shouldn't have done that", but then they don't agree with my overall point.

Some of the things they have claimed:

    • The death's in Minnesota were because they provoked the ICE agents
    • They are only deporting immigrants that are criminals or that didn't immigrate legally.
    • There are biker gangs that take over streets that need to be stopped.
    • Crime is down so it is a good thing.
    • There are fewer drugs flowing into the country.
    • ICE always deported criminals, but the left is focusing on it now to be anti-trump.

Oh thank you for the correction! I thought that temperature was always an average of all particles and that space temperature was very low.

So is mostly empty space considered to be a high temperature since the few particles have high kinetic energy, or is temperature measured in a way that the temperature would still be close to absolute zero?

Space is cold in the sense that the average temperature of the few molecules floating around are close to absolute 0.

The main mechanism for one cold thing to cool another thing (water cooling a data center or wind cooling your skin), heat actually needs to be transferred between molecules in a process called convection.

There are so few molecules in space that the heat doesn't have anywhere to go. If you were instantly teleported to space without a suit it wouldn't actually feel that cold, you would just die from lack of oxygen.

Things in space still lose heat to radiation, but it is minimal when compared to convection on earth. Your body would eventually freeze due to heat loss from radiation, but it would take a while.

So it turns out it isn't explicitly mentioned to be another animated series, but the 2025 season 1 cinematic (tied in to the actual game ranked season) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSoGkTxu_FY was animated by Fortiche who animated arcane. That is why there was speculation this would be a teaser for the next series, but it's not confirmed.

The video has the same black rose as in arcane, and they are talking about losing their host (Mel).
