Which domain registrar has the best pricing / services?

What domain registrar do you suggest? I have several domains with GoDaddy. I have them there because one of them is a .it domain, and several other registrars didn't offer them at the time. So I kept everything at GD to have it all in one place. And for the longest time, they were giving me great deals, but not so much anymore.

They send me a lot of coupons and try to sell me on the domain club here and there. They sent me a coupon for 20% off renewals. I thought great, but when I checked my control panel the prices of renewing had doubled. GD is really overcharging at this point. I plan to let several domains just lapse and keep the ones worth money and the ones I use personally. Which makes this even more of an ideal time to switch.

I was hoping Name Silo finally offered .it, but they don't. At this point I have been waiting several years for them to offer .it support, and they keep saying check back in 6 months. So I'll just bite the bullet and leave my .it and .me at GD and move everything else out if they end up being the best deal. I'd like the keep them together because I use those two for email, and I'd like them in one place for management ease.

Thanks

Can't complain about Namecheap. Decent prices, passable control panel/settings.

I've used a variety of domain registrars over the years but I always went back to Namecheap because they generally have cheaper prices than others, the control panel for domains is not so bad, and customer support is helpful. I've had a some bad experiences with godaddy, gandi and a few others.

Yeah, I was thinking them. They don't do .it though. They have a coupon code for transferring through. Free whois too.

It was only when I switched (to cloudflare DNS) that I realized DNS propagation isn't actually supposed to take hours, but minuted at most.

I use Hover. They've always seemed to be the least scummy company out there, and their interface doesn't fall apart if you look too closely like Namecheap.

I like to use https://tld-list.com to compare pricing and such. Namecheap recently opted to give whois privacy, which has taken far too long. I really like Porkbun for a few TLDs.

Be careful with sites like these. Aparently, there are "domain price comparison" sites out there that buy the domains when you search for them, and sell them back to you at a premium.

Definitely. tld-list is good because its purely the TLD itself. The pricing isn't always 100% accurate, but it does point in the right direction. Its so scummy to scoop domains from innocent...

I've been using Google to register my one domain. They're not the cheapest, but they're not expensive either, and they throw in whois anonymization and some other goodies. No clue about how they work with weird TLDs.

EDIT: Ignore that last sentence; I'm dumb.

Whoa, whoa! .it is not a weird TLD. It is the country code of Italy! Lol, I know it isn't super common in some places. Thanks.

I'd never use GoDaddy after their SOPA support.

I think you typed cold at the end of your name by mistake. It reads cold instead of hot. Kidding. GD isn't great.

Adding another vote for Google Domains! Easy to use, lots of clear documentation on all the control panel features, and if that’s not enough you can get help from a real person for whatever wonky thing you’re trying to do with your domain. I got help a while back with getting my github pages site to use my domain as a custom domain.
