The current league, Necropolis, is great in my opinion. They've made some pretty significant changes to the endgame which have shaken up the farming meta quite a bit. That combined with the league mechanic, which makes crafting top tier items pretty easy this league, have thrown a wrench into the economy, making previously unobtainable items much cheaper than they've ever been.
The game itself is also just in a great state right now. Almost everything is viable to farm, there's a ton of viable builds, it just feels great to play. I'll probably be sticking with this league for quite a while

If any IP retains it's popularity in 10 years, League can definitely do it

On OPNSense, I set up 3 wireguard connections to the respective endpoints from my VPN provider. I also make 3 IP list aliases, one for each VPN. I then set up floating firewall rules so that any IP within one of those aliases gets routed through its respective VPN gateway.
For the webapp itself, I just wrote up something quick using Python + Flask, and leveraging the OPNSense API. It presents 4 radio buttons (Canada, US, NL, None). When you connect, the first thing the webapp does is query the API to see if your IP is in any of the Aliases, then shows which VPN (if any) you're currently using. When you select a VPN to use, it first goes through each alias, checking to see if your IP is there, and deleting it if it finds it. Then it just appends your IP to the respective alias and applies the configuration.

I have a homelab setup with an OPNSense firewall. I wrote a simple webapp that lets anyone on my LAN use it to toggle between 3 VPNs from a list.
How it actually works is that it grabs the connecting client's IP and adds it to one of 3 aliases in OPNSense. The IPs in these aliases are then routed through a respective VPN (Canada, US, NL) at the firewall level. This way I can get behind a VPN on any device with a web browser without needing to install any client software.

The biggest change is probably the Atlas passive tree - it's a whole second passive tree you unlock when you reach endgame, which lets you customize and fine tune your end game experience - you prioritize content you want to do, making it harder and more rewarding, while also having the ability to straight up block content you don't want to do.
Group play is still in a weird place, as tend to be the case with ARPGs. I play with a group of 4 and we always run the campaign together, but play solo once we reach maps (occasionally helping each other with bosses, bricked maps, etc). There are builds that shine in group play (like aura stackers, curse bots, etc), but they tend to be more on the expensive side.
Offscreening is still possible, but they've put a lot more emphasis on defenses. Unless you're playing certain bow builds, the old mantra of "ignore defenses, kill them before they kill you" doesn't work as well anymore

To add though, OP's use cases would also be best served by a NAS OS, at which point there's no reason not to RAID.

Luca I don't really agree with this take. Depending on your needs, either ZFS (through TrueNAS) or unRAID are both great for homelab use.Unpopular opinion, but I generally don't think RAID setups make sense for homelabs unless you truly want to just tinker with storage configurations. (And if you are in that group, you should do it!)

Path of Exile: My favourite game. There's a new league coming up in a few weeks, trying out various leaguestarts to see what I want to play.
-
Balatro: I love deck building roguelites, and this is one of the most addicting ones I've ever played. "Just one more hand"
-
Remnant 2: Started playing through it with a buddy recently. Gunplay is solid, maps are fun to explore, enemies are interesting, builds are varied, and environments are cool. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants Dark Souls with guns, especially since it's on Gamepass.

I don't like the endgame. I've gotten 3 characters to 50+ (2 of them in WT4), and it's just kinda... lame? Itemization is boring, upgrades are boring (everything is just +% more damage), and you build is just done by the mid 50s. It also feels like the game forces so much tedium between killing monsters.
I dunno, I'll probably come back to check out season 1, but I've largely lost interest. It did however remind me that I've got a couple hundred divines lying around in Crucible league, so I've been playing on PoB for the past couple days trying to make something dumb work.

The accelerationist deep inside me is lowkey smug about this. Maybe, just maybe, this will push for the adoption of more open source software in business critical applications.
