They're scaling extraordinarily well and as they roll out new products (especially the work they're doing on Atlas), they become more and more core to companies; far more than a "payment gateway".
Reminds me of AWS's early days. Used to be just ec2, s3 and sqs; nothing you couldn't replace. Now companies integrate extremely tightly with AWS, and you need to be another behemoth to even sort of hope to match the featureset AWS has. They're core to some companies in ways that if AWS disappears, the company itself disappears overnight and doesn't come back for months.
