I really like Charlie's new cypher. It manages to look both modern and timeless and extremely classy at the same time. I have not seen it anywhere in the wild yet but then I don't buy stamps often and carry cash even less often.
Modern while being timeless and classy is a pretty good summary of Charles' aesthetic sensibilities in general. (And, I should stress, only his aesthetic sensibilities.

I couldn't agree more. I've been wondering when we'll first see the first postbox with his cypher on it, as well! I also don't think the first cash is in circulation yet, from what I recall....

As I understand it, postboxes only get replaced when the need replacing - so I guess that means the first one could be anywhere, depending on where a postbox breaks at the right time. Hmmm. I...

First stamps with his cypher came out last week, but they're Christmas stamps and only available in Guernsey (and they are horribly tacky!). No idea when the definitive stamps will change, I do get the feeling they're taking this whole transition very gently on purpose. The Royal Mail must be printing stamps all the time, they could have got Charles's head on some by now if they really wanted.
There's a new fifty pence coming on the 28th of December, presumably all the other cash will follow at some point.
I love how the TTC logo is excoriated. :-) The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is renowned for its terrible design. I once took a tour of subway stations with Joe Clark, a vocal critic of TTC...

Pretty neat related post from /r/CasualUK: So I received a thank you letter from the new King for sending the palace a bereavement card I got from Poundland I would love to get my hands on one of...
Hah, that's the thread I found this video in. I imagine if you keep writing to the Palace, eventually you'd get a reply. Maybe send a letter of congratulations at coronation time?

I guess now we know what that two pints of milk per year's worth of money is getting the British public. Exquisite stationary. Worth!
