Thought this was a really cool website, which shows homes that were shipped by Sears. Due to poor record keeping at the time I guess, there is no official count from Sears for exact number of...
Thought this was a really cool website, which shows homes that were shipped by Sears. Due to poor record keeping at the time I guess, there is no official count from Sears for exact number of homes shipped and sold, but these individuals maintaining the site have been trying to collect all data related to these homes. Thought I'd share for fun.
Very interesting. I was always told my grandfather's house was one of these Sears Kit houses, but doing a quick scan of this website, it looks like that probably is not the case, given they were...

I was always told my grandfather's house was one of these Sears Kit houses, but doing a quick scan of this website, it looks like that probably is not the case, given they were only sold until the early 1940s and I think he and his brothers built his around 1955. Also, it really looks nothing like any of the photos.
That said, I can imagine it's one of those other style of Kit houses, but probably not Sears.
