Hey, I love this article. The data visualizations are great, the writing is engaging, and the topic is actually pretty interesting. Previous tildes discussion can be read here.

IIRC I had seen this quite some time ago on HN. Or maybe sth. similar. As a guy, I increasing just tuck my stuff into my bag and dont bother carrying anything in my pockets maybe except a tissue, and sometimes the phone in my back pocket. My wallet has a place for coins, and I carry the wallet in the bag too (I like backpacks, but I am getting into canvas totebags too). Since a couple years or more, I only carry stuff in my pockets if I am walking to a shop within 1km of my home and back, and even then I keep my wallet and my keys in my hand. Pockets are clumsy IMO, except on a coat or a jacket.
This article and this phenomenon is interesting nevertheless. But my observation is that in general men's stuff is becoming more like women's (more aesthetic, less practical) instead of a visible masculinisation of these details for women's stuff. IDK, i think I like that, the general uniformity of men's stuff is sad.

My wife has started sewing larger pockets into her pants. It's been a huge success and I recommend it to anyone with the right skills.
