So much free money to be made, what the hell capitalism?

I have some "hiking" pants that are business casual passing and they have deep pockets. I got them on sale at an outdoorsy shop, but otherwise, they cost a lot more than the fast fashion that's everywhere.
There's no way you can't make a fast fashion pocket deeper. If everything is the same as the competitors, but it's got deeper pockets and you advertise them as such, I think it's a huge untapped...

I think fast fashion is kinda proof that consumers don't care about pants pocket size. Because now that I think about it, I feel like I've been seeing more sweaters with deep pockets, but not pants.

So true, and I hope someone does. I love having real pockets because I generally hate carrying a purse, and usually just end up carrying my cards, keys and phone in my hands everywhere.

I read on a reddit comment (great source, uh?) that the market, despite what Reddit will tell you is not really there. Since a lot of women don't really want to carry stuff in their pockets because a bulge in there just doesn't look good.
Personally, I certainly don't enjoy the bulge my keys make on my front pocket. So I can see where these people are coming from.
As to why there doesn't even exist a niche brand for women's pants with pockets, the argument I've heard (again, from reddit) is that women just buy men's pants.
I mean, the argument on both sides is anecdotal, so we'll never know till someone does it. But there are people who do want it. Enough to make a whole webpage about it and for it to be popular...

As a man I've come to appreciate smaller pockets, especially on the sides. I'm either leaving home for a walk or for shopping and grab only my phone, my wallet (I've found a very compact one that can hold a decent amount of cards), my keys and some cash; the first two go into the back pockets and the others into the front two; or I'm leaving for anything else and then I just grab a bag, where I put the belongings I listed above and some other stuff (agenda, some paper, whatever book I'm reading, and some other bits and bobs), except some cash because I don't want to look for my wallet every time. Smaller pockets then come useful because with bigger ones digging coins &c out of them is impossible and it looks like I'm itching my balls I guess.
Also, I observe that more and more men use backpacks, sackpacks (I particularly like these) and even totebags, which is something I like. Putting everything in pockets is cumbersome anyways, and it looks bad.
It's the lack of pockets that drive me nuts. My girlfriend keeps her IDs in my wallet, because she never has pockets. That's just ridiculous. All you need is one little bit for a slim wallet or...

Heh I often joke with my wife that I’m just a walking purse when we go out. She hates taking a purse because she doesn’t want to leave it behind or get things stolen yet she needs some cards or cash and sometimes a few other things. I’ve sometimes even tried to call her only to find that she slipped her phone into my pocket without me noticing.

It's amusing and disappointing that there's a pair of pockets out there that can't hold a pen completely.
I have a pair of thrifted shorts that upon further inspection turned out to be woman's, most likely. it's the only pair of pants I have that has pockets so shallow that my 6" phone is sticking out...

Great article with awesome data visualization! Thanks for posting!
I really liked the format too!
I especially liked the comparison for putting our hands in our pockets.

I guess we'll never know until someone tries

This was way more in depth than I was expecting, thanks.
hah, nice one.

That's why we as men need to keep pockets away from women. Otherwise they would have to use for us

I want to reply to the content but I'm just madly trying to work "noodle jetski" into the conversation in a natural way
<.<
This is just the perfect thing to get all the drama of the day out of my head. Thanks a bunch.
