People who live near the most toxic sites in America say they saw a level of attention they hadn't seen in decades under Donald Trump

That's very surprising to me. Everything I've seen of the EPA under the Trump administration has had me concerned. A bigger push for coal, covering up reports on climate change. I'm astounded that superfund sites really have been prioritized. Credit where credit is due, and I'm glad that at least some good has come of this administration.

“All she cared about was climate, everything else went to hell in a handbasket, whether it was water or environmental justice,” Gibbs said, adding, “Gina, that b----!”

A bit of a raw quote, but I suppose it's a good point. The climate is a very important issue, but the EPA does focus on more than that. Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of that with all the political polarization.

Too bad there have been hundreds of other instances where the Trump administration has actively worked against the American people.

I don't know, I think voting for Trump is a bad move but you really "can't believe these people"? I mean, in many parts of West Virginia, the tap water is literally poison. Not to mention, what good is health insurance when you can't even get to any of the doctors you need because you live in the middle of nowhere and are too poor to move?

I really feel like we should all be ashamed that the Appalachian community was left neglected for so long that all it took for a cult leader to turn them was to unpoison their drinking water.

Certainly, but my well water isn't drinkable either and you don't see me voting for a cult leader. I don't care how desperate you are, voting for Donald Trump is inexcusable.

It well is, but let's put ourselves in these people's shoes for a minute. They've been by and large neglected on the national stage since 1995. That's quite a long time. Now all of a sudden,...

They've been by and large neglected on the national stage since 1995. That's quite a long time. Now all of a sudden, you're seeing substantial progress where every other leader has failed? Fixing your community which is in dire condition? Especially if you're not really following politics closely?

I don't think it's an excusable justification for all of Trumps other behavior by a long shot. But I can sympathize with the people who are being helped by this, and it's really more a testament to just how bad Bush II and Obama (and their respective congresses) neglected them.

Edit: And learning more about it, it's a damn shame that these folk's lives improvements are coming at the expense of others. I still can sympathize with how they feel.

It's great that these people are finally getting helped, and it is terrible that they were neglected for so long. But on every other issue the guy is worse than the alternative and he's such an obvious liar, and he's trying his damnedest to kill the country. But on top of that the guy (and Republicans in general) supports getting rid of the regulations that stop Superfund from being needed as much.

            Edit to rephrase snarky line

They are being duped, and it is up to us to help them understand, save them from themselves, and insure that they keep getting the support they need.

There are far more Trump supporters out there that don't even have that benefit of the doubt and endorse his more heinois behaviors. They are the ones more deserving of vitrol.

Hell, even I'm thankful for his tanking of TPP. It was done in the dumbest way possible, but it was better than the alternative. Doesn't remotely compensate for virtually everything else.
