    I'm spoiled rotten - Leelanau Cheese Company's Raclette (2007 North American Cheese Competition Grand Prize; World Cheese Competition 2016 Super Gold winner) is a local product. On the rare occasions it's still in stock, they have an aged version that's in the "reasons for living" class.

    I feel a bit sorry for tiny artisanal cheesemakers when they win, though - it's impossible to meet the sudden demand. If they expand production, it's difficult to maintain the quality. If they don't expand, their products are suddenly available only to the fickle luxury trade.

    Also, TIL about Murray's, while looking up a cheese that a guest brought.

    And here we go - anyone got favorite cheeses (obscure or otherwise), why, and where do you get them?
