I recently fell in love with Bundaberg ginger beer after impulse-buying a case of it at Costco. I was hooked, and I really appreciated that it only had like 5 or so ingredients. Went back, all sold out, even at other locations. The only brick & mortar nearby I was able to find it at must get it from another manufacturer/distributor, because the 4pk had a few more ingredients, most of them being various preservatives and flavorings. Ditto when I bought from Amazon as well.

Fast forward a couple weeks, and now I have a live ginger bug and two liters of homemade ginger beer fermenting as we speak. I'll have my first taste in two days. I'm excited! I did steal a taste of the ginger bug and it was delicious. Can't wait to try the finished product.

I made tonkatsu on Sunday for the first time in a while and it was pretty tasty. My partner had bought pork cutlets specifically for me to make it with. We had some left over, so yesterday I made a slightly altered version of my miso ramen and had the rest of the meat on top of that, among other things. It turned out pretty nice.
This is the recipe I use for tonkatsu, if anyone else wanted to try. That website is my favourite when it comes to finding Japanese recipes.

Unfortunately a lot of meat. Stomach issues (SIBO for those curious) have left me unable to process anything but meat, which has turned me into a complete carnivore. I've gotten decent at cooking a steak on the stove, though, and dared to try thanks to a recent Adam Ragusea's video (YouTube link 10:52). A little oil to start, and flip frequently until tender (around 120F by my thermometer). Only seasonings I can tolerate are acid and salt, so been deglazing with vinegar and pouring over with a hefty pinch of kosher salt.

On antibiotics for the stomach issues, and they appear to be clearing up. Me and my purse are looking forward to making meat a rarity again. Thanks for reading!

I had a eclipse themed cider from one of the local breweries, while having their eclipse themed beer on my birthday back in March. Both were good, but the beer was better, probably because I had it on tap, instead of from the can. The beer was a really hazy IPA and the cider was a sangria flavored cider.

Leftovers, I hate wasting food and I kind of hadn't eaten any leftovers for a.. couple/few weeks and my fridge was full so been eating them for past 3 days. All that's left now is a serving bowl of bean soup and one of leftover Mexican food... I purposely made sure meat/jalapenos were leftover and mixed it in a bowl with refried beans and rice (~3 big meals in each bowl). I could eat the same Mexican food for days, but the bean soup needs to be altered a bit, even if it's something as simple as adding worcestershire sauce or tapatio.
