Some have even proposed medals and cash for mothers.
This bit of the article had left a bad taste in my mouth because of what it reminded me of because there was one other country that had medals in history, to my knowledge, to mothers that gave birth to more than 4 kids, and it was Nazi Germany with the Mother’s Crosses that they gave out to mothers. And I am not saying that these people are Nazis, I am just pointing out that Nazi Germany did had a medal system in place for mothers that did have large families and raised them inline with the Nazi Party ideals.
Progressives shouldn’t just defend the right to abortion, we must fight for people’s ability to have families and raise them with dignity. That means paid leave, universal childcare, affordable healthcare and a livable planet.
A lot of Progressives do in fact are pushing for these things because we look at Europe where this is this the norm, in most places, and we look at what we have it is really frustrating as one of the richest countries in the world, why do we not have any of things that would actually help us.

I'll take Howard the Duck. His parents are fans of Howard the Duck, saying that it is a great representative example of what a duck can do in the movies, sadly not everyone shares the same sentiment of the movie, in the duck world, Howard the Duck (1986), has a mixed views half seems to love it and the other half absolutely hates it. Howard did not had a great time at school, mostly because his classmates would pick on him because of the name that he shares with a fictional duck. But he refuses to change his name because it was his late parents had named him and he wears it with pride.
Edit: thanks for the games kfwyre

Jackson during the Nuremberg Trials. This one is interesting because Taylor mixes both his personal experiences along with some historical first hand accounts, which makes this a memoir and a history book. The reason that I say this is that Taylor includes some things that he would not have access to, but he said, and did include, used some personal letters from fellow people from the Nuremberg Trials and official documents, so that makes sense. And he does talk about how the Soviets had changed from being friendly to being cold to the other members of the trials, which was interesting to see how their attitude changed, when the Iron Curtain fell.
**With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa" by E.B. Sledge - Memoir from a US Marine, that has a interesting backstory of how he wrote it. This formed the basis for half of the the HBO show the Pacific. The way that Sledge has with just describing the battles will make you queasy, so be forewarned about it. And some of the language that he uses can be considered to be out dated. But it is a good memoir that really does not paint war as a good thing.
For the Common Defense: A Military History of the United States from 1607 to 2012 by Allan R. Millett and Peter Maslowski. This is really a general history about the US military, as in it really just gives information about the US military at any given time, and it is a good jumping off point for any conflicts that the US was involved in and even during peace times.
Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda by Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire. Dallaire was the UN commander that was sent to deal with the genocide that was happening in Rwanda and how it was just a failure for the UN and why he thinks that no one really cared what was happening in that tiny land-locked country in Africa. It is pretty good, but because of the subject matter depressing.

The one that I am more comfortable with sharing, is my past beliefs with the LGBTQ+ community and the fucking "jokes" that I would make back in high school, especially during the day that LGBTQ+ people and their allies would go through the day without talking to signify their closeted past. Thankfully I don't have these beliefs anymore.

A food bank will not turn away people if they live in the area that they are serving. And as for the donations, please, DO NOT donate your old, expired canned food that you won't eat because the food bank/pantry will just throw it out. If you do want to make a donation to your local food bank, and food isn't an option or you don't know what food to donate, money is a good fallback option because that way the bank can get food that people will eat. Or if you can't donate money, then volunteer, donate your time. And if you don't know if your community has a food bank, Feeding America has a food bank locator for the US to find the food bank that serves your area, and using that you can find your local food pantry because those are the actual places that hands out the food for the people.

If his colleagues were still there or communications was still up with his civilization, I don't think he would have made that decision because he would not have been as isolated as he was in the story. And with the possibility that his civilization is gone makes his oath as a anthropologist to observe and not to intervene a mute point.
The ending for Lyn is also fitting for her character, her mother did not believe her that she went out and slew the demon, and only when Esha and Allwer had arrived and collaborated her story with their own, did the Queen finally acknowledged her deeds.
Overall, I had enjoyed the story, to the point that I had picked up another of Adrian Tchaikovsky's books, the Children of Time, the first book of the trilogy of the same name. I liked the merging of sci-fi and horror mix, I had always felt that those two genres of story telling tend to mix well most of the time. And the addition of the more fantasy elements really made the book a great read.

And I did played with my brothers and sister, when it was still up, so that was fun.
WoW - I never felt drawn to play it and I had heard not so good things about some of the server communities. And the subscription model, was another factor as to why I did not (and probably not) play it. Another reason, I had a PS2 growing up, so yeah.
Eve - See @HelmetTesterTJ's reasons for Eve. The description of it being a spreadsheet that you "play" really sounded boring as hell. And along with the subscription model for it was another turn off for me personally.
A lot of the MOBAs, especially League of Legends, I never felt drawn to any of these types of games and LoL has this reputation of just being toxic as hell, which is just a major reason as to why I never played it.

Dwarf Fortress (Steam Edition) - was gifted this for my birthday a few weeks back. And it really just draws you in despite how complex it is (at least for me). I did had a few false starts because of my lack of experience and not really realizing that you can in fact mine through damp stone to get to the next z layer or that you need aquifers for your dwarfs to not die. I tend to play games like this first without looking at tutorial videos first to see how far I was going, that lasted until like my forth fortress ended in a failure. Then I found the Youtuber Blind's tutorials that really explain what the hell is happening. Overall I am having fun.
I did try (and I do mean try) to play the original free version of the game a few years back, like a year before the Steam version was a thing (I think). I had wanted to play it because Rimworld was influenced by it.
The Witcher 3 - Admittedly I am not playing this as much as I probably should. And again I got this as a gift for my birthday because I had never played it before, and I had played the previous games in the series.
Dark Souls Remastered - Thought I had talked it before, but apparently not(?)(or I did and it just was removed), I was going to linked my thoughts about in my original because they didn't changed. What they basically were is that I am enjoying the game (in offline) and I am trying to get back to where I had to stop due to circumstances.

This is a spin off of Amplitude Studios' Endless Series, with the main character being a Horatio on one of the Horatio's ships. The Horatio's is a species that is made up of one person's clone because he had a big opinion about himself. It is weird and it is pretty funny. If you have about 2.5 hours to kill, for whatever reason, it is not that long of a game, even if you 100% it.

We also have a number of micro and craft breweries here too, that range from being really good to being really bad.
It is pretty much of the year from where I am from. And the weather can change drastically and different parts of a city can have vastly different weather. Once my parents were out getting groceries and outside it was whiteout conditions, and while in town, it was bright and sunny (as much it can get in winter). The food is pretty good too, because we are about diverse as New York City, the food can be pretty good. If you are in Rochester, make sure you get a garbage plate, especially if you need something after a night of drinking.

Military history with food history. Since I was young, I had a interest in military history, I was the weird kid that would watch the History Channel (I know) after school and watch their documentaries on WWII and the other subjects that they rarely covered. And I felled in love with food history in college, and since both of them seemed to be intertwine with each other. But my true love is the history of beer because that is one of the common traits for the different civilizations around the world, from the Mesopotamian ale (which the Smithsonian had made before, to see what it tasted like) to the chicha that the Incans brewed, along with the role that women had in brewing it, because it was part of their homemaking job or for religious purposes. And a lot of the polytheistic have goddess that have beer brewing and another responsibility that women had, like Nephthys, who was the Egyptian goddess of beer making and brewing and childbirth (along with other things). This changed in the Renaissance period in Europe because of the Brewing guilds that popped up that barred women from this profession. Oh, and there is a theory out there that states that beer is the reason why humans stopped being hunters and gatherers, instead of bread, mostly because chemicals that is found that is associated with ale, in some pots in prehistoric sites.
Have you been to N.... uhh... Niagara Falls? I've never been but I've heard it's beautiful!
Sadly, I have not been to Niagara Falls, which I want to, because that is another wine growing region in New York, and I want to go to the wineries over there, granted I live in one of the regions. The reason for the NYC comment is that whenever I say I am from New York, they just assumed I have been, or that I am from there.

Two years now. I had found about Tildes on one of the Fediverse alternatives to Reddit and got a invite from one of the people from there.
How did you choose your username?
It's a username that I had used when I wanted to become a history professor for a university.
What are your interests? (This could be music, tech, art, video games, board games, books, anything!)
History, reading (kind of obvious), video games and animation (both Western style and anime), food, and just recently knitting.
A/S/L
(Just recently) 28/ M (he/him) / Upstate New York (yes, I have been to NYC before and no I do not travel there regularly, it takes hours to get to from I live, NY is fucking big and there are other places than NYC (and arguably more prettier than the city)).
What do you do? This could be in your spare time, for work, your passions.
Reading, playing video games and learning about Japanese culture because I find it interesting from a outsider perspective (and no, anime is not the source material that I use to base my knowledge off of).
Do you want other users to PM you from this thread?
I am not really a great conversationalist, so not really.

CrazyProfessor02 That actually sounds really good by the way. Especially the frying it and making potato pancakes. What is your binding ingredient when you do fry it?I use coconut milk instead of milk and butter. And to match the coconut flavor, I sometimes add curry paste. The texture is a little weird compared to normal mashed potatoes, but you can also form it into thin patties and fry it, if that's more appealing.
That actually sounds really good by the way. Especially the frying it and making potato pancakes. What is your binding ingredient when you do fry it?
Or you know actually encourage businesses (or have government ran ones and that the Democratic candidate for NYC mayor has this as one of his platforms (obligatory fuck Cuomo)) to go into the food deserts, which is a area that does not have access to food (or affordable food for the people living that area) within a mile in a urban setting and 10 miles in rural areas, and into food swamps, areas that does have access to food, but it tends to be highly processed very cheap food, to expand the food options to be more healthier than what is being offered in those places right now. The people that are living in these areas do actually want to eat healthier foods, they literately can't because of where they live, so by imposing a fucking sin tax on food that these people are quite literately are forced to eat because of socioeconomic factors that they have no control over, is not a good move on the government's part. And because hungry people are a lot less reasonable and a lot more angrier than people that have a stomach full of food (no matter the quality), the ancient Roman politicians knew this that is how they controlled the general population.
