Growing up, I realized that the candy bar "Baby Ruth" and the baseball player "Babe Ruth" had similar names. Whenever I asked if this was on purpose, adults always told me "no, it's really named after a baby named Ruth." All these years later, it's interesting to find out that, no, I was right, it almost certainly was named after the baseball player. Curtiss, the creators of the candy bar, even leaned into the baseball connection. It wasn't until Babe Ruth tried making a competing candy bar that they claimed there was no connection. The company probably lied about the connection to Ruth Cleveland, daughter of President Cleveland, in court to keep the name. We know for sure they lied about the real "Baby Ruth" visiting the candy factory, since she died before the company was founded or the factory even opened.
