When you make breakfast for dinner, what do you typically make?
I normally do a full english... but I'm craving super thick and custardy french toast, but its lacking protein. Anyway, it got me thinking about what others do for their own B4D
Usually go for buttermilk pancakes lathered in peanut butter and maple syrup.
If you're wanting to make French toast, why not whip up some eggs on the side? Adds protein, and the ingredient was going to be out anyway
My go-to is scrambled eggs on toast, because it's so quick and easy. I like to whip herbs into the eggs, and top the toast with cheese and arugula (if I have it).
A couple things i used to like as b4d but haven't made in ages are savoury pancakes (filled with fried mushrooms, herbs, and cheese), and savoury french toast (with, you guessed it, cheese and herbs in the egg mix!).
tonight's B4D was french toast (1.5" thick, basically custard with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon w/ yogurt in place of milk), scrambled eggs (with white pepper), yogurt + granola + blueberries + honey, and mushrooms + asparagus + wilted arugula.
scrambled eggs on toast is... kind of the best, though. Ever make HK style egg sandwiches? Super good.
I rarely do this -- especially this much sugar for dinner.
That sounds delicious. I've never heard specifically of hong kong style egg sandwiches, it looks like a very comforting take. I will say, minus the additions to the eggs, the cooking style is really similar to how I loke to cook scrambled eggs. I like a big curd (im not huge on french style) thats fairly 'stuck' together and jusssst set.
curd is a great way to put it. I wasn't sold on the slurry, but it does help a bit with the bite. Nice quick sandwich -- especially if you're cooking for a few.
You can practice your omelettes and try adding new things to them
Recently threw a party to celebrate the completion of my Master's thesis. Had a bunch of people over, and took it as an excuse to make Juicy Lucys (inverted cheeseburgers with the cheese inside the patty), full Tupperware's worth of homemade habanero salsa and guacamole, and a lemon chiffon cake with whipped cream and raspberry sauce for dessert. It was a lot of work to put it all together, but the pleasure of good company and good food together made it worth the effort.
