A somewhat related (and better) article that I really enjoyed that's also from Atlas Obscura is C.S. Lewis’s Greatest Fiction Was Convincing American Kids That They Would Like Turkish Delight. I definitely remember thinking that Turkish Delight must be some kind of incredible sweet, and being surprised to find out what it actually was.

I was kinda disappointed that Romulan Ale was not listed among the Star Trek ones, it has always been something I have thought about trying. Also, while it technically isn't food I would list Melange in the list of interesting fictional consumables (Dune). Butterbeer has actually always been a big one for me, I have never tried the reproduction stuff they make IRL because there is no way it would live up to reading about it in the books.
