So many analogies to be drawn from "we want the choice to kill ourselves" to modern political issues. I'll avoid those for now, and simply state that this is fascinating. Even though I'm in the medical field I had no idea of this part of history. Even if the ethics are murky, it sounds like this doctor wanted to take a real stand against tainted food and I commend him and his subjects for doing so.

To blithely ignore those laws or to repeal them is so incredibly disrespectful for the blood spilled in their making.
