I couldn’t tell this delicious lab-grown ice cream didn’t come from a cow

    this is a novel project which could provide an alternative to ice cream (and, i'm guessing in the future, other currently dairy-based products) for vegans. it also supposedly has the potential to be vastly more sustainable than current animal agriculture (the bloomberg piece notes that Perfect Day claims "[...]its proteins require 98% less water and 65% less energy than that required to produce whey from cows."). it's going to be years before anything of this sort hits the shelves commercially, of course, but it'll be interesting to see how Perfect Day progresses with this. note also that there are other groups working in this field too besides and with Perfect Day: there's nonprofit Real Vegan Cheese; New Culture Food based out of new zealand; Motif Ingredients, and of course others.
