My enthusiasm for this game went way up once I realized it's just stop-gap spin off. If they had tried to make this the "new-gen" of pokemon it'd probably be the first main-line pokemon game I didn't buy in 20 years. I'm just not a fan of Pokemon Go and it's style.

I'm hoping that having a more casualized series (?) will encourage GF to make some experimental changes to the formula in the core series. I'd like a good core series game for the switch with an emphasis on quality content and design, I felt like during the 3ds games we got less than stellar titles just because a lot of production time was now going into the art assets and everything else was rather a second thought. I'd love a return to BW2/HGSS level of content.

So you can't battle wild Pokemon, only has Gen 1 and has co-op.
Yeah, simplifying the catching process down to the Pokémon Go version is kind of a bummer.
Oh and no online services.
