I mentioned in another thread that The Second Story was one one the more enjoyable older school JRPGs I enjoyed. And that even though I'm not usually into crafting systems in JRPGs, that TSS had a surprisingly fun one, with the characters having different skills and all that.

Haven’t played the game since its’ release in the ‘90s but I have many fond memories of it—this would be a miracle in my books!
