Most of fire emblem is still only released in Japanese so emulation is the only way to play them in the west. They really need to remaster these games. Though I feel most of the player base is more interested in modern fire emblem waifu simulator so I understand why Nintendo might not think it's profitable

Fire Emblem Heroes and Fire Emblem Engage (especially the former) have both been amazing at introducing newer players to older fire emblem so I think there’s definitely some profit in it. Pretty much anyone who plays fire emblem heroes regularly now knows about the older games pretty well, which is a nice boon.

Rumour still has it that the FE4 remake is the one in the works. I'd definitely pick it up in a heartbeat, though I'm curious as to how IS is going to transfer some of the concepts. For example, the maps are a huge difference from most Fire Emblems, and I'm not convinced mainstream players will like them. But if you change then, you kinda lose part of that FE4 core.

Omg I’m so glad to see someone else who likes the map design. Usually even fe4 fans I meet aren’t that into it. But I love the actual scope of the maps and how it really feels like you’re on a war campaign. I understand it might be alienating to some newer players, but I think if they really emphasize the castles as a checkpoint aspect maybe it can be okay.

I would want them to take some of the janky nature out for some things, like doubling being tied to a skill that only some characters have or only married couples being able to share money. But I really hope they keep the broad, massive maps. They take a long time but it’s definitely part of the appeal to me.

I'm really digging the maps, how arena works, doubling tied to something else than strictly speed, and the story is somehow engaging despite being pretty straightforward low fantasy setting. Not really a fan of the romance side of it. It feels like the sort of thing that you would do completely wrong without knowing how it works ahead of time.

I started FE on the GBA as kid so I can attest it definitely holds up.
