I don't think there is going to be a PvP server. I think they've also turned off most of the ways to accidentally flag yourself as well, although they did add a consensual duel-to-the-death...

I've been playing the addon a bit, it's a lot of fun if you enjoy the leveling side of the game. I've lost 5 or 6 characters now, if you don't play extremely slow and safe the risk involved introduces an element of excitement somewhat analogous to full loot PvP games. I think the official launch will be pretty popular, but we'll see what kind of legs it has. I think with the addition of the free transfer off for dead characters, more people will try the game mode than otherwise would but also you'll lose players to classic era as the game mode progresses.
Yes, people are excited. The game mode was already popular with the unofficial addon, and I fully expect Official Hardcore to be a hit (in the context of Classic Era). I don't think there will be...

I don't think there will be PvP Hardcore servers, but the "Figh to the death" mechanic is pretty popular on the PTR (Public Testing Realm).
This mode is going to die FAST, people are going to try it, get mad and rage quit. The gimmick of hardcore servers is just that, it's a gimmick. It takes so long to get to max level and start...

People have been saying that, yes. Usually those that haven't played hardcore. I wouldn't make such prediction myself. Unofficial Hardcore had a large and sustainable population, for a long time....

The mode is a staple in many games, such as Diablo, Path of Exile, and RuneScape. It doesn't need to appeal for everybody.
Interesting move. Are folks seeing much excitement for this? I haven't played in a long time and wonder how this would go for a PvP server.
