With Sekiro i almost didn't finish because I got to the 'lock yourself into a path' point of no return and figured I'd leave it there so when the inevitable no doubt coming must have several DLC packs were released i'd already have a save with full access and could do what I wanted as I didn't feel like NG+ing it.

I did eventually finish it. Why yes I am still bitter.

With ER I did something similar as life just kinda hit the blender and I didn't have time to play. I didn't even get that far in but figured that this one ABSOLUTELY will get DLC and I might as well wait for that as an excuse to pick it back up.

I love the new stuff we've seen so far, but I'm really hoping they nail the vibe of the first game (seamless fantasy/eldritch meshing) and don't lean too heavily into one side.

I also hope we get more expansions on other things not yet explained. Say several DLCs focused on characters who were introduced with clearly larger stories to explore. Like General Radhan or Malenia or LADY TOMOE!!!! (yes i'll take it in elden ring, i don't care, how dare you fromsoft.)

FromSoftware has said this will be the only DLC for Elden Ring. It would be great to see some other games take place at other points in the Elden Ring mythos. Aside from people listing "unannounced project" on their linkedin I don't think anyone knows what From is going to drop next.

It sounds like they really have nailed the vibe of the base game and some of the initial caves/catacombs have a bit more personality than their base game counterparts. Very excited to get my hands on some other weapon types. The light greatswords and great katanas are really intriguing to me.

And yeah it just kills me that I'd love soooo much content from them that I'm probably never getting. New bloodborne, new sekiro, more ER DLC, and more ANYTHING for AC6 are all on my fromsoft wishlist.

I'm glad they keep knocking it out of the park, but man I wish they could scale up without losing the quality, but I know what a monkeys paw that is.

I think the scope of ER prevents a more elaborate DLC line up. Miyazaki is clear that he wants to deliver something worthwhile as an addition to the epic scale of Elden Ring and releasing pretty much full size games as DLC is untenable as a continued business model. Something's gotta give at some point.

Elden Ring did rocket them into the mainstream and gave Armored Core an unprecedented sales boost too. Whatever their next project is will be met with much anticipation (after we all clear the DLC thrice over!) and their budget has to be much larger than before.
This focus on a specific level of quality has earned them a lot of trust and I'm fairly confident that with Miyazaki at the helm that focus won't waver into spewing garbage dlc onto all of their creations.

I'm pretty hyped about the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion launching 6/21 and have been following coverage closely. It's fun because I haven't ben hyped for a release in perhaps a decade.

Last weekend Bandai Namco held some pre-release events allowing journalists and other personalities in the FromSoftware fan community to play 3 hours in the first area of the expansion. VaatiVidya (the defacto lorebearer of FromSoftware games) was invited to one of these events. IronPineapple (major Soulslike reviewer) also attended and put out his own thoughts.

Anyone else excited for this release? Doing anything to prepare? I'm considering taking the day off. But aside from that have mostly been focusing on getting a character in the position to enter the DLC. Haven't bothered farming any materials or grinding out levels.

I've even bought the collectors edition for the DLC! Something I never saw myself doing before.

In terms of prep I've just been playing the game regularly but damn... I'm out of practice!

I can't wait. I'm excited to see what the full package is, how it feels to do everything. It's just awesome to see a project go this far and cap it off with one more gigantic addition and the whole thing feel cohesive. Hard to believe something as janky and weird as Demons Souls, or as incomplete and constrained as Dark Souls, got us to something like this. And, from a studio that prior to that made a bunch of mech games and plodding dungeon crawlers.

The DLC from what I've seen looks amazing and I'm very intrigued by the new weapons. In souls games I was always big on using a claymore, my first run of all of them was basically a medium-armored claymore character. Seeing there will be "light greatswords" has me curious about combining that with a lighter, faster play style, maybe something that gets closer to how I like to play Armored Core (I spec for boost speed and nothing else in that game).
