I posted briefly about this in the Tildes Minecraft Server thread, but after playing a bit more I think it probably deserves its own topic. The latest Minecraft April Fools snapshot transforms the game of Minecraft into a roguelite game!
The linked blog post does a better job of explaining, but players essentially start in a void-like lobby and progress by creating dimensions to enter. Each dimension can be customized by using elements that unlock as you progress. There are also challenges that appear along the way which are more curated puzzles to solve. I've been playing it multiplayer with my kids for a few hours and it's a surprisingly complete experience.

It also has some similarities to RF Tools Dimensions. I have heard that there are a few devs at Mojang that used to make modded dimensions, so they may be pulling from some of that talent pool.

Huh, I would not have expected Mystcraft to be added to Vanilla Minecraft. Neat.
