I saw this earlier, the biggest thing for casual play is the note saving.
In the original version, you had to collect all of the notes in a given level in a single play. This meant that if you died or left or whatever, you had to start from the beginning. This is particularly annoying because there are a couple of times that backtracking is required (I am sure speedrunners have figured out a way around that, but whatever). You would collect like 75 notes in a level then realize it was all for nothing because you NEEDED key item XYZ to get the last few. Very frustrating.
I haven't given it a shot yet, but per the release trailer everything just seems like QOL stuff so probably? I would definitely put the note saving on even for a first playthrough because...

I would definitely put the note saving on even for a first playthrough because backtracking doesn't add anything to the experience.
I ended up double posting this, sorry for anyone who caught the second one! I’m very excited for this. I’ve really been enjoying the QoL mods I installed for Wind Waker which modernize the game...

I’m very excited for this. I’ve really been enjoying the QoL mods I installed for Wind Waker which modernize the game quite well. This doing the same thing for Banjo is great, especially given the native game’s frame rate and camera issues.
I’m thinking this might be a good candidate for a future CGA?
As a PC gamer, I cannot believe that there is still no PC port of Rare Replay, and therefore no (legal) way to play Banjo-Kazooie without having to deal the shoddy bitrates and input lag you'd get...

I think that's what makes me the most sad about all these decompilation projects and enhanced PC ports I've seen lately. You need to effectively pirate the games (because let's be real, people aren't "making legal backups" here) to enjoy them. And as we've seen lately, the only people who seem to be getting away with rampant piracy lately have been AI bros who have been stealing tonnes of copyrighted works to train their LLMs...

If I never played the original, do you think the pc port is a good way to experience the game for the first time?

I believe it, Microsoft is garbage and their gaming division has been useless since 2009.
