As soon as I sat down to watch the Direct I blurted "Pokémon" and then giggled. This franchise always brings out my inner child. The trailer looks good! Right now I'm leaning towards Winds, but no clue. Part of me suddenly hopes/wonders if the versions will have more individual focuses on sky exploration and water exploration. The tiny bit I know from early leaks is that there should be some focus on underwater exploration, which I think this trailer hints at with the awesome underwater shot. That will be awesome, Dive was severely underutilized.

As for the starters: I'm leaning towards either Gequa or Pombon. Pombon is cute, but Cassette Beasts preemptively filled the bomberanian-shaped hole in my heart so I can branch out. I think once again I'll wait for the final evos to decide for sure.

also that dog better stay bipedal istg—

I hope the similarity just a coincidence, it'd be a mighty big one, though Pombon does look different enough and like a Pokemon. Hopefully there aren't a bunch "inspired" by indie creature collectors.

I doubt it, thankfully. Pomeranians do naturally look like little explosions with their puffy fur. And the puns in English are so easy...

I might go with the Grass one. That water gecko looks freaky.

Vaguely encouraged that they're continuing and expanding the transition to 3D. Can't help but feel like this is what I was hoping would come out on the GameCube after Pokemon Stadium though.

I'll have to make sure I finish up Violet and its DLC in the next year to make sure I'm ready for W&W, but I'll definitely be playing. I've managed to keep a living dex going (minus Zarude for which I'll need to wait for another release, or to find a trade) and just need to finish up my Scarlet/Violet dex which I don't imagine will be all that difficult.

The starters revealed are cute. Australia theme? If so, there's potential for some cool new designs. For all its faults, I do think Pokémon still delivers on a lot of great designs.

Wikipedia says it's actually Indonesian themed! Definitely lots of potential for cool designs and music

Oh, cool! That actually makes more sense looking at the trailer.

That is an Angry Bird. Look like we can go underwater. I suspect I'll go Waves, but it's too early to commit.

SEGA should sue for the similarity of an Angry Bird. That would be quite funny, and hard for Nintendo to argue against.

I'm optimistic about these games! I've unfortunately fallen out of love with Pokemon a bit, the last game I truly finished was Pokemon X 13 years ago. I did play Sun as well as Scarlet but I don't think I ever did the champion fight in Sun and I didn't make any meaningful progress on Scarlet since the performance really struggled on my Switch. I did emulate Pokemon Legends Arceus and roamed around a bit and enjoyed what I played through but I didn't make any meaningful progress on it either.

I've held off on a Switch 2 for now since I really hope they make an OLED version in the near future but these games look solid

The Pokémon Presents direct itself sucked but this looks kinda nice.
