I've always thought of the DMC games as Rythmn Action games. You get good at them similar to how you get good at DDR or Guitar Hero. Rythmn of buttons pressed. It's a very fun formula when it works. Style switches make a huge difference in these. It all boils down to a Rock-Paper-Scissors formula anyway. So I'm hoping they add in a 4th (or at this point 5th) element. Though I hope the new installment isn't just "love". It'd be bold, but hard to make.
DMC for me is a PVE fighting game. You learn move combos and are graded on how well you execute the combo. If you play any fighting games it's just.... kinda that but against a cpu. I like it.
Then again, I hope this isn't just a port of Bayonetta with a dude in a car with an attitude.
Well it's an E3 trailer, I don't expect to see an exploration of the intricacies of the game system and expect to see the genrral tone of the game. So far it sounds good: guns, explosion and...

Really? Could you give some examples? Apart from the not-so-good color system in the (now) spin-off opus, I don't see how DMC used an RPS approach. You can use trickster as efficiently as sword master or royal guard.

I disagree, for me it's more about managing ennemies and when to put a given combo than just execution. I don't think it is possible to get SSS/Pure Platinium by only executing that pole dance sword master combo thingy or that 8 move long combo.
Bayo brought dodge as a solution to ennemies management: everything can be cancelled to a dodge, and they put witch time as an incentive to use it and introduced dodge offset to still be on the offensive with this defensive move.
I'd like DMC5 to be more offensive compared to Bayo, at least to distanciate it from the upcoming Bayo 3. Crowd control ? Better movement?
This feels like a great return to the actual DMC world, I'm definitely excited.

This is hilarious.
