Come to think of it, I should have wondered about DLC a little bit at least, considering how many Square Enix and even Nintendo games do have DLC these days.

(Hi /u/kemitche, always nice to see a familiar name on a new site like Tildes)

I think I'm very pleased about the way they say this as well. It's possible the translation is off (I haven't found a better one), but it seems to be saying "We did not pre-emptively cut content or anything to start making DLC, but we're not ruling out DLC / expansion-pack stuff if it makes sense to do so later and we have good ideas for it." I like that the game at launch is being sold as "complete" and, if I enjoy it I'd also welcome additional, substantial content.

What kinds of DLC make sense for JRPGs usually:

        • Some series, Legend of Heroes comes to mind, have paid DLC for extra money and equipment to avoid grinding
        • Costumes and skins
        • Bonus side stories
        • Bonus optional bosses

Types of DLC that probably wouldn't make sense here:

        • Extra characters... you already know there are 8
        • Multiplayer features... probably not for a JRPG
        • Unique weapons and armor, for this type of old-school-ish JRPG would be disappointing. Skins make more sense, but unique equipment somehow feels out of place, a little too "pay-to-win" perhaps.
