I decide to follow them, and I like their content enough that I want to be notified of new content under the assumption that it'll be similar to existing content.
My first notification from that channel comes in ... and it's essentially a short ad for "We're live on Twitch!". Nothing about their video history implies that I might get such a notification, since they always delete those vids after. So now as an end-user, I feel deceived. After all, I'd watched their other videos, which always end with "don't forget, we also stream on Twitch, so follow us there" and I'd deliberately chosen not to go to Twitch and subscribe to them. In that scenario, I'd almost certainly report the content to YouTube.
It might take a while (perhaps even years) for enough reports to come in to trigger a review from YouTube, which could explain why LTT seemed to think that YouTube was "ok" with the behavior for so long.

When I go to someone's YouTube channel I would expect to see the videos they'd posted, and use that to decide if I want notifications for new content they post. A channel that has a habit of uploading a video to trigger a notification, then deleting it afterwards, feels really deceptive to me. I'd have no way of knowing they do this before subscribing to them and having them hit me with what I would consider spam content.
In fact, perhaps there were just enough viewers that complained about this behavior after being surprised by it that YouTube finally took action. Maybe it wasn't fine for years, but just uncaught. (If I shoplift from a store for years before finally being caught, I don't get to complain about the store not warning me about cracking down on shoplifting when they finally catch me - an extreme example, for sure, but hopefully it conveys a bit about how I'm thinking about various forms of "You let me get away with X for years!").

I think I'm very pleased about the way they say this as well. It's possible the translation is off (I haven't found a better one), but it seems to be saying "We did not pre-emptively cut content or anything to start making DLC, but we're not ruling out DLC / expansion-pack stuff if it makes sense to do so later and we have good ideas for it." I like that the game at launch is being sold as "complete" and, if I enjoy it I'd also welcome additional, substantial content.

I've long since stopped watching, almost entirely, partly because I'm not really an overall sports fan, and partly because of growing concerns over the head/brain injury implications of that sport.

It sounds like Linus Tech Tips uploaded a YouTube video that was literally just an ad to say "We're live on Twitch!" That's very different than uploading "actual" content to YouTube that also mentions your twitch channel, or including links to your twitch channel in descriptions/videos.
As a consumer, I'd be super annoyed to see something like that show up in my feed. And I'm not sure that I even have a problem with YouTube's policy of "no content/ channels whose sole purpose is to drive people away from YouTube" or their actions here to enforce that policy.

Because of the restrictions of Classic WoW, a Classic WoW server would do this for him. When Classic WoW launches, I know that simply by logging into that Classic WoW server, I'll be surrounded by people that are interested in that sort of experience. Sure, I have to give up some of the "joys" of modern WoW, but I can't think of many things in modern WoW that I actually care that much about.
More importantly though, current WoW is designed and optimized around LFG/cross-realm style. Dungeons, even mythics, are designed to be run a certain way. Non-instanced content is designed knowing that your LFG/LFR queue could pop at any time. Reward loops are built on the assumption that you'll be using the various forms of fast-travel that have made WoW feel smaller than classic, despite the addition of multiple new continents since WoW's launch. Even if you find a "no cross-realm, no fast-travel" guild or whatever, you're surrounded by players and systems in a world that is build for instant gratification.

The amount of false hype Bethesda is trying to build here (with the tweet -> day long non-stream twitch stream -> near useless teaser video) almost feels like they're trying too hard to make up for something with a lot of marketing.

A new account almost can't participate at all, in any meaningful way, until they 'farm' some points. That further incentivizes the short/easy question & answer flow. For SO, the gatekeeping somewhat makes sense - you only need so many active editors and moderators, as frustrating as it might be to those who want to propose a simple edit.
I think soft-gatekeeping works better, and primarily as a "whoa slow down" measure to (a) help mitigate spam/abuse and (b) encourage new members of a community to take time to absorb & integrate. Care needs to be taken with (b) to avoid creating echo chambers, but the opposite end of the echo-chamber spectrum is that a group loses what made it special as it gets diluted by new members who haven't taken the time to fully appreciate how things are.
And now I feel like I'm rambling and have lost track of my point so I'll wrap up the comment.
I appreciate that some people want this, but just for the sake of counter point - I don't think I'd find something like that interesting in the slightest! I find that for me, the best game experiences are the ones that are more tightly controlled. With a single ending (or handful), the dev can ensure it's a really good ending (they may or may not succeed). With billions of endings? There's no way to hand-curate that.
