Ironic that an Amazon property has a terrible storefront. Offline mode is one of the things I like about Steam. My internet goes down from time to time so it's nice to have something to do that...

Sadly, the client craps out while offline with no "offline mode" option to speak of.

Offline mode is one of the things I like about Steam. My internet goes down from time to time so it's nice to have something to do that doesn't require a connection. Why should I have to be online to play single player games on my own computer?

I'm pretty sure the client just does a normal installation of the games, meaning you can launch them directly without having to go through their flaky client. Of course you still need to be online...

Of course you still need to be online in order to download and install the game in the first place, but playing it offline should work fine.

I mean it's a nice little bonus if you already have twitch prime, but I can't see anyone being convinced to buy it based on these games.

Or, am I mistaken and I'm missing out on some gems here?

      There's a few I have interest in:

Pillars of Eternity: A highly regarded "old school" RPG, in the style of Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale

Qube 2: First Person Puzzler, the first game was very clearly inspired by Portal, if not quite as original, but still pretty competently done and a decent playthrough. I've been looking forward to this sequel.

Observer: Cyberpunk First Person Horror/Walking Simulator, by the devs who made "Layers of Fear", another well received (if fairly small) horror/walking sim

Tacoma: Sci-Fi Walking Simulator from the developers of Gone Home. I've actually played this one already and liked it, and while it was definitely on the short side, it had some nice moments and I enjoyed exploring the world. Probably not worth full price, but as a free pickup it's worth looking at if you like walking simulators.

You're right though, I certainly wouldn't buy Prime just for these.

I use my Steam wishlist as something like "this game looks good and I am vaguely interested in it", and there are probably at least 7 or 8 of these games on it.

It's not your impression. A person that like those games already had them (pillars of eternity being the only decent one for me) and who is not interested will not certainly subscribe to prime for...

The only time limit is availability to add it to your account. Once it's added, it's there for good. I think they even stay with your account if you cancel Prime.
