I have played a ton of Fallout Shelter (on mobile and PC) but also never realized it was originally essentially just a marketing gimmick for Fallout 4 until seeing this video. They have really put a lot of effort into Shelter since release too, and the monetization isn't predatory like so many other mobile games so I constantly keep going back to it when I am in the mood for a nice, casual mobile game.
Don't even get me started on Fallout 4 though... I could go on forever about its shortcomings compared to the previous games. It was a solid FPS but an absolutely horrible Fallout RPG. I still played the crap out of it, but the vast majority of that time was spent building and tinkering with mods rather than actually playing through the story, which was utter garbage IMO.

I was mildly interested in Pillars of Eternity but those ultimately were a different sort of animal. I'm still optimistic that the company might return to a modern action-RPG with a nicely-portioned MS budget behind it.
And maybe, just maybe, they'll release it for PS4, a console I own. Nah, that's probably asking too much.

And yeah Obsidian has no rights to the Fallout IP, but I would love to see them put out something original Fallout inspired. But at the very least I hope MS lets them keep pumping out the classic cRPG style games.
