Did anyone say otherwise? Even people like myself who are overall rather disappointed with many of these new competing stores' methods (e.g. exclusive games, massive VC debt, etc) are still generally pretty happy/excited that some viable competitors have finally popped up. Valve had gotten way too complacent and Steam had really stagnated over the years in terms of improving their services and features, so these competitors are a blessing... even if it's somewhat annoying having our games library spread across dozens of different platforms now.

Hell, even as much as I despise Discord, I am super glad they exist since their mere presence finally forced Steam to start improving their communication client. Just as when Origin first appeared, Steam was forced to finally address its horrible customer service, since even at launch Origin's was infinitely better.

p.s. It feels weird praising EA for something, but Origin undeniably has way better CS (especially their incredibly helpful live chat) than Steam ever did, even now that it has been markedly improved.

I'm still pretty disappointed and bemused that Ubisoft has not yet offered a path to upgrade from Starter to Standard. Many of my friends picked up the Starter pack and quickly dropped the game entirely. It's not like they're going to pay another $20 to get the Standard version when they already dropped $15 to get the Starter.

I swear, Ubisoft is the master of two steps forward, one step back.

You'd be surprised, just looking at online communities like Reddit, it's as if any competitor to Steam is the most treacherous act known to the PC gaming community.
