This is my favorite presentation at GDC each year, I just noticed this year's video is out and available for free (which technically is the case every year but GDC stuff is often published rather irregularly). You usually hear about indie games that become niche hits (for a recent example, Baba Is You) years before they get big. This year's presentation starts particularly quirky with an "edible games cookbook" but stick with it even if that feels too far from "videogames" to you!
I love their rather strict submission requirements, which are at the same time open enough to include absolutely bonkers stuff yet require actual gameplay rather than just cool graphics or storytelling. It's explained in detail on their website. This presentation has been going on for over 15 years and saw first looks of games like Katamari Damacy and Portal.
