Tetris is one of my favourite games. It is beautifully designed, especially the modern iterations with little things that make it just a bit nicer. (Specifically, the way pieces are chosen to prevent long "runs" of pieces, lock delay, and the piece look-ahead.)

At some point in the 90s Brazil was flooded by cheap Tetris games from China. They could hold scores, but not names. Each group of friends had its own official Tetris, and we all knew to whom the top score belonged to. When the record was broken, it was like a ceremonial passing of the torch. Everyone had the obligation to treat the device with great care: our history was in there. Until it eventually malfunctioned, which it always did. Good times.
Minecraft recently became the most bought game beating tetris. That's quite sad news for their 35th birthday, but hey, it's cool. Happy birthday tetris!
