Factorio is a fantastic game I recommend to anyone who is technically/logically-inclined. Some call it "Programming: The Game". It's a game about automation, engineering, bottlenecks, and looking outside your window only to find out the sun's already up and you've been playing all night.
It is also for creative types. There is ways to play the game that dont strife for the most efficient, the most logic, the biggest.. etc factory, but for a beautiful chaos, or use the tools given...

I only played about an hour, but it seems great so far. I have no idea what I'm doing, but the introduction scenario seems like a pretty good way to get started, and has given me a bunch of little "quests" that basically walked through some basic mining, automating some simple things with belts and the robot arm kajiggers, and doing some technology researching.
Was there no sort of intro/tutorial before? You just dropped into a normal game and had to figure it out?

Rather than being about constructing factories while under the pressure of being attacked, it becomes more of a war game.
That got changed a while ago. You dont need to attack the bugs anymore exept to conquer territory or resources. Or you can just disable them completly now.

Other call it "Weapon grade crack for programmer". For some people, it's that potent.
I know a programmer that has dropped several thousand hours on it, and that's not an uncommon number of hours.
