Well, luckily they added "Very Easy Mode" to make that possible: https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1169762390524616706

Normally there’s only Easy Mode, but we added Very Easy Mode for movie fans since we have real actors like Norman, Mads, Lea starred in. Even Yano-san who never completed the 1st stage of PAC-MAN, was able to complete the game on Very Easy Mode

I don't know why that would be. Every game Kojima has ever made, maybe with the exception of MGS4, has pushed the envelope and been incredibly fun. There's no indication this one will be any different.

Kojima's work is in some ways modern art, he infuses philosophy and concepts both into gameplay and narrative that few other developers attempt. He also attempts to connect the meta-narrative to the actual gameplay in ways that are fairly unique to his games.

A Kojima game is an experience, something that a string of cutscenes simply can't impart (Hello again MGS4)

Yeah, I'm honestly rather surprised by the negative responses in here so far. Other than Cyberpunk 2077, this is the game I have been most excited for. So much so that it may have actually forced me to finally buy a PS4... though thankfully with the PC release announcement (which is hilariously receiving a lot of hate, online) I don't have to now. I can't wait to get to experience Kojima's vision for a game now that he's no longer restrained by Konami!

I staved off this entire generation of videogames. Haven't purchased a console, handheld, or built a desktop since 2011. But RDR2 planted a seed that the release of Death Stranding and FF7:R are causing to flower. I think I will have to find a PS4 Pro to get these games out of my system before returning to gamer hibernation.

Why the PC release hate? Aren't most exclusives this big usually temporary?

Never even tried a Kojima game in my entire life, but when I saw the first promos of Death Stranding, I knew I had to play it. Most Sony-affiliated franchises passed me when I was a kid. For a brief period of time I had access to my uncle's PlayStation, so I played Crash Bandicoot, Driver, Spyro, and Twisted Metal, but that was pretty much it. Time passed and I briefly owned a PlayStation 3, but the only reason I owned it was to play Souls games. My wife bought a PS4 I mainly use to watch Netflix, so I will end up playing Death Stranding in December as a holiday gift. A couple weeks ago I picked up Metal Gear Solid 5 on sale, and I'm just now getting around to install it.

From a narrative perspective... Good luck. You're entering at the very end of an nine game series with a very dense mythology surrounding it. And the game itself is a sequel to a sequel to the prequel that is dependant on knowledge of the original PS1 release, which is actually the 6th game in the continuity.

Hmm, I'm not even comparing it to MGS (which has fun stealth gameplay) but the gameplay videos I've seen look rather dull.

I would wait for reviews before making that decision. This final trailer seemed to have some very gripping gameplay with the BT's.

I wish I enjoyed Kojima's creativity, but I just can't get into his games and stories. I don't know if it's a culture gap, but the ogling of women and fart humor he'd mixed into the MGS series...

I wish I enjoyed Kojima's creativity, but I just can't get into his games and stories. I don't know if it's a culture gap, but the ogling of women and fart humor he'd mixed into the MGS series just felt it was done in poor taste-- that and the cut scenes were legit ~20-30 minutes, which is just too long.

I hope this is different, but something tells me it won't be.

The odd thing about Kojima is that, by volume, there's probably more ogling of men in his games than women. He's an equal opportunity ogler, it seems, something rare in this medium that's otherwise 99.9% ogling women. I can't think of any other creator who's so insistent on closeups of male butts and making sure they wriggle just right. The MGS games have always been a surprisingly decent hit with women as a result of it, I remember there was a lot of interesting fan art with Liquid and Solid Snake in the 2000's.
