Probably going to buy Odyssey when i can finally get past 403 of doom. I love ancient greece and i want to enjoy it but seeing some of the more silly stuff put me off, that and my underlying dislike of ubisoft. I've also been unable to get into new games for a while now, i've downloaded half a dozen free ones from epic and steam and just didnt have the energy to learn them.
For £6 (reminds me of the old steam sales) i think it is worth a punt, even if i dont play it.
Yeah, it's definitely pretty broken today. Someone took a giant screenshot of all the games available on sale if you can't get it to load (USD prices): https://i.imgur.com/HlgBgP0.jpg

Try-hards. Aaahh, I dunno. Their anti-competetive streak combined with their generally shitty practices really turn me off of them. Someone tell me if I should still hold the points from the store...

Right, windows exclusive. That settles that for now.
Their ridiculous giveaways smell VC money to anyone else?

In my opinion, the best thing to do as a consumer is find these companies when they are in the loss leading stage. You can enjoy the perks of the VC money. Just don’t get attached to the service and be prepared to drop it once they try and cash in. I did this exact thing with movie pass, and it worked quite well. I would say download the client and grab the free game. You don’t have to give then anything to enjoy gtav and other games for free. AFAIK they still don’t offer any sort of copy protection like steam works does, so you can launch the games without the client even running (though some games will have their own DRM).
Civilization VI is free now, sale's still going on for quite a while (ends June 11).

Ubisoft is also making the standalone "Discovery Tour" pieces of Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey free for the next week: https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/article/4D130pw1YqzFsNFjYRydbR/play-your-part-play-at-home-explore-ancient-worlds-for-free-with-assassins-creed-discovery-tour
That might be worth checking out instead (or in addition) if you'd just like to explore some of the Ancient Greece aspects without the actual game.
Thanks, this looks better than buying the game for my needs. Decent sized download at 50GB.
Sounds great, once it's back up.
