I mean, yes. Having a pure, historically accurate, war game would be excruciatingly boring. You'd be marching, trench digging, latrine cleaning, marching again, getting sick, marching while sick, and then you pop your head up and someone shoots you from across the map after weeks of doing what a player would consider as boring tasks with a pointless finish.
DICE is generally good at creating a fun game that also keeps some of the history intact including the weapons used and landscape/building conditions in particular theaters so there's a particular plausibility.
I truly don't care that they picked a woman with a prosthetic to headline the game. I don't find that super implausible because the war included millions and millions of people and every kind of combatant imaginable. I care what the game looks like and the plausibility of the landscape/theater and the game mechanics. From the trailer, I couldn't connect the dots for how the game is really going to look.
I'm reserving judgment.
"Fun over authentic." Fine. They've always done that, and it's a necessity, but probably not the best PR move for the game for people looking for a plausible experience.
When it came to Battlefront 1, I think they were perfectly capable of making it more accurate. The game Verdun showed World War I trench warfare with bolt-action rifles was possible, and in my own...

However, I admit I do just love moaning about historical inaccuracy in films and games. It's fair enough if DICE believe otherwise.

I get that a super accurate game would be boring as hell, but it is slightly frustrating that they would make the game less accurate in one of the few ways that would NOT adversely affect gameplay. In the end though I guess that's it really, it's not actually going to affect gameplay and it'll probably still be fun. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
They say this, but what would be really fun is a new installment in the Bad Company series. Those games were the most fun I've ever had with Battlefield, both great single player campaigns and...

I would kill for a new Bad Company. Incidentally Bad Company 2 was the very last Battlefield I pre-ordered. Didn't care much for BF3 and I pretty much lost all interest.. heck I bought BC2 for...
