Game remasters are almost exclusively graphical updates to charge people for the game again instead of coming up with new IP or a sequel.

I don't hate it. From a game preservation point of view it ensures these old games are still playable on newer hardware. It also gives developers a chance to fix some of the things that didn't work well the first time, like Zelda OOT requiring constant boot swapping in the water temple.

I can see the argument that it's a cash grab or discouraging the creation of new content, but some of these classics deserve updating, too. Especially from developers that go all the way like Bluepoint. Shadow of the Colossus has never looked so beautiful.

I'm not particularly excited for any GTA remasters because I don't think they really need it, and I worry about the music licensing situation. But Rockstar is basically just a GTA and Red Dead studio now anyway.

The message Take-Two are sending is that modders can do this stuff for free until Take-Two want to charge money for it. Then it's got to stop.
