Stardew Valley, maybe?
For those not familiar with Stardew Valley: Developed by ConcernedApe, Stardew Valley is a farming simulation RPG that can be compared to Harvest Moon. Quite enjoyable solo, even more fun as a multiplayer game with the new update. Available on the Switch as well as other consoles. Currently the MP is only available on Steam/GOG.
Are any other Tildes playing? Have you tried modding (on PC)? Who's your waifu/husbando?
I adore this game. I modded for easier fishing because I hate the minigame. It's not relaxing at all, like fishing should be.
I'm on track to marry Shane, but I might go for Penny on another save.
I'm absolutely terrible at fishing in SDV, I always have to ask my fiance to win the ice fishing contest for me. I completely neglect that aspect of the game.
As soon as Shane was made a bachelor I started a new game and romanced him, and I think he might be my favorite spouse... but don't tell Sebastian on my other save.
I refuse to touch the legend now that he's defeated me on the only two days of my 2nd Spring. Even though I find fishing decent, I absolutely hate mining as I don't like dying.
I've just gotten married to Sebastian actually, I might have divorced Sam since he did absolutely nothing at home :(
If you haven't tried modding, there's easier fishing or mining. Hopefully that will let you play more!
Hm, I might pick it up on Switch if the controls are less RSI-inducing. How are the controls compared to the PC version?
Playing this game with my 4 year old was an absolute blast. I did the scary parts but we made a pretty great farm together.
That's absolutely adorable!
One of my favorites since it came out. I've done maybe eight runs, started using mods eventually to give myself a deer to ride. I really like trying to get things like the mines done "early" in these kinds of games, it's a challenge.
As for husbando, Elliot is my choice. He's so sweet and has plenty of lovely things to say after marriage.
I truly dislike the mines, so in 1.3 I just asked friends to tag along and help me out! I love Elliott too, he was my first favourite. Have you seen the immersive dialogue mods for him yet?
1.3 will be interesting, hope my friends have SDV. I didn't know there were dialog mods! I should check The Nexus soon... :)
I keep hearing great things about this game... I'm going to have to give it a try.
You said multiplayer is only available on PC, do you know if it'll be added to the Switch at some point? Or is it really more worth having on PC because of mods anyway?
Mods are admittedly great to play around with, plus you can get a DRM free PC version from GoG.
I believe multiplayer will be added for all platforms.
I personally can't live without mods. Of course, the base version is still great on it's own, but I love customising dialogues and finding new sprites!
The second time I played through it, I romanced every person in town, which is pretty hilarious since no one acknowledges how you are really playing the field.
What's even better is that once you marry someone, everyone else just acts like they weren't romantic with you at all.
I've yet to romance every person, but I'm pretty sure if you tried that in 1.3 something different happens!
I have been playing it for a couple years now with my wife. We've been on hiatus waiting for the multiplayer to finally drop, along with several friends who intend to play with us. Luckily, it seems as though the modding community is still ahead of the curve and has solutions to allow for more than four people to play in one game.
I wanted to play it as soon as the MP beta dropped but everyone else voted to wait until it's officially released.
I play it from time to time; I installed a few mods to show NPCs on the map and show information about basically everything in the game by mousing over it and pressing F1, because wandering around until I found the person I wanted wasn't doing it for me and neither was looking at their schedule on the wiki. Installing mods is incredibly easy (at least on Linux) – you run an executable to install the modloader (SMAPI), then drop mods into a directory. It all Just Works™.
I played it a lot in a short timeframe on PC a couple years ago and found it just a little too addictive. Recently I've been playing it more casually on switch and am finding that format to be easier to deal with – the switch battery life provides a built-in limit to playtime. There's also probably something about not being tied to my desk that makes it easier to break away from.
