Oh, please, yes. Wouldn’t that be amazing if the people behind the companies could actually be held liable for their rampant criminality? Maybe then they would exercise some actual oversight.

Even if you believe the monopolist allegations, which you should not–because they are bullshit–I did no different from what AbbVie and countless others do everyday in pharma. Anyway, with this ruling, every executive in America can be held jointly and severally liable for antitrust actions levied against their companies. Have fun out there!

Mr. Shkreli, do you really wish to threaten me with a good time?

In (most) common law countries, there is a greater possibility for company bosses to be held personally liable (as opposed to a company “protecting” owners).

When did we stop using that right?

I had thankfully put his existence out of my mind. Sadly this article reminded me of him, but at least the court did the right thing.

Hopefully the next time I hear his name it's in an obituary or a life sentence with no possibility for parole.

I remember many years ago I stumbled upon forum users glowing recommendations for recordings of Shkreli's finance tutorials. This was before his infamous pharma stuff that eventually put him behind bars. I watched some of them and you know what, they were very good. It felt like he was sharing secrets that industry insiders kept close to their chests (that area of finance being highly competitive and adversarial). He was quite likeable in the videos too, if my memory serves me, it seemed like he was sharing to spread knowledge and be helpful. Anyways, I'm not saying this in his defence or to excuse foul play, just more as a contemplation for how people can be many contradicting things at once

I have no love of the finance bros...they claim creation of value by manipulation of value.

Haven't seen the videos, but of what I know of the finance world, most of the real moneymakers in finance is in doing as close to one of these things that were made illegal:

        1. Trade with insider info
        2. Form a monopoly or collude with other industry partners to fix prices
        3. Defraud people

The medical insurance industry is highly profitable because it does 2 and 3 quite well.

I'm a bit torn about Martin Shkreli.

One one hand, when the aliens finally come in force I want them to abduct him, so they can bring him back to his home planet.

On the other hand, we run the risk that they assume he's one of us which would mark our species for extermination.
