Near the beginning of the film, when the young woman in green was buying and making flower bracelets, I was think oh wow, literally stringing flowers, that's an industry I haven't heard of since my mom's generation, 黐膠花, manually putting silk flowers together. I thought she was selling them online for a wedding or something like that. And then I saw her take flowers to sell on the streets atop an old styrofoam box. For buck or two each. To pay off high interest loans that she was scammed/forced into. That local police refused to address.
Those ads are sickening. They're intentionally chanting the character 整 over and over, to overlap the meanings of 整形 (cosmetic surgery) with 完整 (whole, completion).
And that predatory app, that criticises even a half million USD face in full make up, and only use is to push affiliates commissions. These are lifechanng surgeries: at the beginning the woman who had her jaw bones shaved, she casually mentioned she needs regular fillers. Those are for life, even if the surgeries are not botched
And going for tea in all the get up, but the end result photos still need editing.
I think it's not a problem for people to want to look this way or that, but the real shame is pushing people into debt, putting their health in danger. People should be able to choose their own path safely.

I'd be curious for people to weigh in on their feelings regarding societal and cultural beauty concepts. When I watched this with a friend of mine he said he couldn't understand the desire these people had to look "perfect". I said there is something about executing something so perfect that is impressive, so I was just wondering what other people felt about this (within the documentary or otherwise).
What an incredible watch. It really humanizes some of these social media queens that obsess over looks and I’m glad there are plastic surgeons helping out those with botched surgeries.
