So, it's important to have studies that check for causation. I haven't looked at this one closely, but it's a randomly controlled trial, so that seems good.
Your skepticism is very warranted, but there are reams of well-designed, well-executed studies that control for correlation and still support the notion that exercising is good for you in almost...

While you are no doubt correct, there are indicators that those correlations might not be causal, or at least not to the extent currently believed. For example, research points out that physical...

We found that people with high fitness levels in late adolescence had a lower risk of dying prematurely, for example from cardiovascular disease, compared to those with low fitness levels. But when we looked at their risk of dying in random accidents, we found an almost similarly strong association. This suggests that people with high and low fitness levels may differ in other important ways, which is something that previous studies have not fully taken into account.
Fascinating result, thanks. It's interesting - the main accidents they mention were vehicle accidents, drownings, and homicide. It's not completely crazy to think that fitness could protect you in...

Eat fiber rich foods!
Berries, legumes, and flax seeds are the most concentrated sources. They also come with a lot of nutrition.

Also, IMO, there is no shame in taking Metamucil (or some other brand of psyllium husk supplement) if your diet is low on fiber too. I track all my macro and micro nutrient intake, and even with eating oatmeal+chia seeds multiple times a week, a decent amount of fruit, veg, legumes, potatoes (with their skin), etc. I was still consistently way below the RDA for dietary fiber. 10-12g of Metamucil powder a day helps with that though... and (TMI warning) also makes my bowel movements a lot more consistent, easier, and cleaner too. ;)
I never needed to use them, but some of those fiber products are tasty. I worked at a place with combo fiber/chocolate/candy bars were in the vending machine. I really enjoyed them.

So if you're young, still keep an eye out for blood in faeces, bloating, stomach pains or unexplained sudden weight loss (especially that one), as catching the disease early greatly improves your prognosis
Exercise boosts survival of basically everything, even including a huge range of mental health disorders.

For example, research points out that physical fitness reduces the risk of dying by random accident by a significant amount.. This is ofcourse not really the case, and implies some inherent sampling issue in other studies that is not yet fully understood
