I think for most people it's kind of a given that inhaling chemical substances isn't going to do you any favours.

However, for me it's the lesser of two evils. I smoked tobacco for roughly thirty years. In the two years I've been using an e-cig I've gone from using 30ml of 2.4mg strength liquid a week to 5ml of 0.6mg strength a week. For me, that's a huge reduction, in both nicotine and expense. Considering a 50g pouch of rolling tobacco is roughly £20 and lasted me at the very most a week, and now spend that a month on liquid/coils, I'm happy enough with vaping.

Do I need to stop vaping? Yes of course. Has it been a very useful tool towards helping me cut out nicotine addiction? Definitely.

I'm prepared to take the risk in my attempt to kick a thirty year addiction.

Yeah, ditto. I smoked cigarettes (and cigars) for over 20 years, and while vaping is obviously far from perfectly healthy there is absolutely no way that the dozen puffs a day I am down to on my vape now is worse than my several dozen cigarettes a day was. And at least with the vape there is an easily acheivable endgame of totally quitting by gradually lowering the nicotine level in the eliquid, whereas had I kept smoking cigarettes and simply “tried to cut down” I would likely still be smoking the exact same amount still, if not more. And once I do fully quit, the vape is also a much safer fallback should I feel desperate for some nicotine at some point down the road.

Vapes being trendy and seen as “totally safe” by teenagers who weren’t cigarette smokers before is an issue though, and probably more what this study is focused towards discouraging. That is also the reason that we have to jump through so many hoops to get eliquid with nicotine in it here in Canada too, and I’m fine with that as well if it helps prevent underage kids from picking up the habit.

Plus, my house and clothes no longer stink like a mouldy ashtray. I never realised just how rancid the smell of tobacco smoke is until I regained my sense of smell.

I was always pretty cognizant of how bad it smelled since my grandparents smoked inside their trailer and it tainted everything there, even food items in the pantry and fridge. As a result I have never smoked indoors anywhere. Even at my own home in the middle of winter I used to go outside for a cigarette, but even so, I definitely don't miss the smell on my clothes (or fingertips) anymore either. I do kinda miss the smell of good cigars and pipe smoke though. :(

This one has a pretty damn good aroma, but no liquid can replicate the taste. https://www.vapemate.co.uk/eliquid/havana-cigar-eliquid.html

Yeah, I actually tried a whole bunch of cigar and cigarette flavored eliquids when I first started vaping since I was worried I would miss the taste/smell too much to quit. They weren't bad but they paled in comparison to the real deal. And they also turned out to be kind of unnecessary since, oddly enough, I have found I actually generally prefer the more fruity tasting/smelling eliquids to anything else. My favorite so far is a Honeydew/Dragon Fruit flavored one, with Pomegranate and Lemon Tart a close second and third. I recently found an Earl Grey tea flavored one that I have been thoroughly enjoying as well and so will definitely be ordering again.

What are your favorite flavors so far?

I'm quite partial to Mango tart, Rhubarb & Custard, Blackcurrant and Lemon sherbet.

All the Dinner Lady brand ones are pretty tasty (except the rice pudding one, which was kind of gross IMO). It seems we have pretty similar taste though, so I will give your other ones a try next time I order more. Thanks for the suggestions!

Can't go wrong with a bit of jam on toast either.

Marmite on toast would be a flavour I could get on board with. I suspect any attempt at it would turn out rather badly though.

But yeah, even though I actually enjoy yeast extract on toast as well, I think a vape liquid version would be utterly appalling. 🤮

I'm just wary of the "coolness" factor that makes kids adopt vaping. I'm afraid of the future ramifications of vaping in our society going forward. They grew up knowing that smoking was bad, and yet...

In conclusion, we sought to replicate the potential effects of exposure of the user in an acute in vitro system using our vaping-condensate technique. We show a significant increase in cytotoxicity caused by the vaping process itself. Importantly, exposure of macrophages to ECVC induced many of the same cellular and functional changes in AM function seen in cigarette smokers and patients with COPD. While further research is needed to fully understand the effects of e-cigarette exposure in humans in vivo, we suggest continued caution against the widely held opinion that e-cigarettes are safe.
