Yeah, I've noticed the same trends. Discord replaced more than a few IRC channels. I've seen a couple of Mattermosts too. I kind of miss the times where everything was on IRC. It was so simple back then. No program juggling, no completely different workflow, just a new channel to add to the connect list.

Gmail caught on because at the time, there was no other service quite like it. While it's main competitor, hotmail, was offering 20mb of storage space for your mail, gmail came in with a minimum of 1gb, which quickly grew to 5, and so on. The service itself wasn't all that revolutionary, but the way it was presented, and what it could do, was.
Now Chrome is something else. It wasn't that it was revolutionary, it was better than Internet Explorer, faster than Firefox and got pushed on by google like the next messiah.

I've been on a math-rock and instrumental metal kick for a while now, so this week I'm listening to things like:

Delta Sleep is a great math-rockish band with an album released in april that I'm in love with, Ghost City.

Allure Of Stellar is older but Azimuths is still an album I listen weekly too.

Covet is just released a new album and I'm digging the vibe as always. Here's a link to Effloresce

And I mixed that with Sithu Aye, Polyphia and Chon. I'll probably add some Minus the Bear tonight as well ^^

I am incredibly late to the reply and I'm sorry, but I wanted to continue the discussion so here goes:
The official policies is a great point. And yes, some things are debatable and it could be a great in-depth discussion, but, as it is, the DSM-V makes some great changes that should at least be backported into current usage now, like the changes to the disphoria entry.
And you are totally right that the DSM should not be treated as a diagnostic manual...but the reality is, it often is, so updating as quickly as possible to the best version so far would be of help.
But again, you are totally right, it is a big change that can't sadly happen overnight.

Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand.
An incredible character in one of the best romance of all times, the play is excellently paced and witty. It is also written completely in alexandrines, a classical form of rhymes. It is the most famous french play, played all over the world, and also incredibly difficult to perform (Cyrano as a part is more than 1600 rhymes in total). It also makes for a great read, at times poignant, at others incredibly funny, and is over a little too quickly.
The chosen form lends a rhythm to the book that is rarely found in classical literature, and the amount of different scenes makes for a breathtaking adventure.
I read it in it's french original, but heard that the Burgess translation was better, so maybe look for that particular one. ^^

There is also the fact that while the DSM-5 is now 5 years old, a lot of professionals still use the DSM-4.

Mob mentality is a real problem, digital and real. We should be wary of any solution that just trusts all users regardless of knowledge about the situation and requires and amount of them to vote before taking action.

These uritrottoirs are just that, a band-aid, and to me at least, makes the problem seem less serious than it is.

I'd argue that since we have tags, everything about games and it's development could be under ~games. The ~ can act as a broader category than, say, a subreddit or something like that, and tags can help focus the interests. Being able to sub or create lists or tags would be a great addition then (might already be there, I've just started here :P)

I'm just wary of the "coolness" factor that makes kids adopt vaping. I'm afraid of the future ramifications of vaping in our society going forward. They grew up knowing that smoking was bad, and yet...
